We call Him Almighty every Sunday.
But what does almighty actually mean?
Not a distant power that controls everything from above. Not a force that crushes what gets in its way.
The Catechism says God’s almighty power is universal — He rules everything. It is loving — He is our Father. And it is mysterious — because God shows His power most perfectly not in conquest but in mercy. Not in force but in the Cross.

Everything we believe flows from one source.
Not a doctrine. Not a rule. Not a ritual.
A mystery.
The Most Holy Trinity — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — is not one topic among many in the Catholic faith. It is the central mystery from which everything else receives its meaning. Remove it and the whole structure collapses.
This week in the IYF community we are going to the very heart of the Christian faith — the God who is not alone, the God who is love in His very being, the God you were baptised into.

God is not an anonymous force somewhere in the universe.
He has a name. He gave it to Moses at a burning bush on the edge of a desert, and it has echoed through every generation since:
I AM WHO I AM.
Not a concept. Not a principle. Not a vague spiritual energy.
A Person. Present tense. Always.

Three words.
I believe in God.
We say them every Sunday. We learned them before we could read. They sit so comfortably in our mouths that we rarely stop to feel their weight.
But the Catechism says this first affirmation is also the most fundamental. Every other thing we believe — about Jesus, about the Church, about salvation, about eternal life — depends entirely on these three words.
Everything. Hangs. Here.
This week in the IYF community we are slowing down and saying it again — carefully, deliberately, and with our whole selves.
Who is the God we say we believe in?
The answer will take eternity to fully know. We start this week. 🔥

God spoke.
Through creation. Through the prophets. Through His Son. Through two thousand years of faithful witness passed on to you.
This week we asked the only question that matters in response to all of that:
Have you said yes?
Faith is not a feeling. Not a family tradition. Not a theological position you hold on paper.
It is a total, personal, freely chosen surrender — mind, will and heart — to the God who gave everything first.
Abraham left without a map.
Mary said yes without a full picture.
The Church has been saying yes together for two thousand years.
Your yes — however small, however uncertain — is the beginning of something eternal.
“Faith is a foretaste of the knowledge that will make us blessed in the life to come.”
— St. Thomas Aquinas, CCC 184

God has been speaking since before you were born.
Through creation. Through the prophets. Through His Son. Through two thousand years of Scripture and Tradition handed on faithfully to you.
The question was never whether God would speak.
The question is — are you responding?
The Catechism describes faith as the total submission of the mind, the will, and the heart to God who has revealed Himself. Not a cultural label. Not a feeling that comes and goes. A complete, personal, freely chosen yes.
“By faith, man completely submits his intellect and his will to God.” — CCC 143

Most of us were handed the Catholic faith before we could walk.
But there is a difference between a faith you were given and a faith you have chosen.
The Catechism calls faith “the obedience of faith” — from the Latin ob-audire, meaning to hear and listen to. Not a passive inheritance. An active, personal response to a God who is still speaking.
Faith begins in the ears before it reaches the heart.
