Every climb looks like this near the end — no view, no proof, just sky. Keep going. The top has never once been empty for the people who reached it. 📍 Lyon Street Steps, Pacific Heights, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LyonStreetSteps #KeepClimbing #NegativeSpace #iPhonePhotography by @iyonr
A bird mid-flight, painted on a heart, at the bottom of 332 steps. Nobody starts a climb with a light heart. You climb, and it gets lighter. 📍 Lyon Street Steps, Pacific Heights, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LyonStreetSteps #HeartsInSF #PublicArt #iPhonePhotography by @iyonr
It’s called a street, but this part of Lyon has never seen a car. It’s stairs, all the way up. Some roads are only for people willing to walk them. 📍 Lyon Street Steps, Pacific Heights, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LyonStreetSteps #PacificHeights #iPhonePhotography #LookingUp by @iyonr
Two banks of trees, and one path of water between them — carrying everything the sky gives it, still moving forward. It’s narrow for a while. Then it opens. I took this one for the two of us. 260926 📍 Palace of Fine Arts, Marina District, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #PalaceOfFineArts #StillWater #Reflections #iPhonePhotography by @iyonr
Most of this series, I’m behind the camera. This is the one time I stepped in front of it. Every now and then, be in your own picture. 📍 Fort Point, Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco #GoldenGateBridge #SanFrancisco #reels #VisitCalifornia #iPhonePhotography by @iyonr
This lagoon was dug for a world’s fair in 1915 that lasted ten months. Everything here was supposed to be torn down afterwards. Temporary things have a way of staying, if enough people love them. 📍 Palace of Fine Arts, Marina District, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #PalaceOfFineArts #MarinaDistrict #iPhonePhotography #QuietMoments by @iyonr
Coit Tower was built with money Lillie Coit left to the city — a third of everything she had, with one instruction: make it more beautiful. She died four years before it was finished. Some of the best things we do are for a view we won’t get to see. 📍 Russian Hill, San Francisco, California #SanFrancisco #CoitTower #TelegraphHill #NorthBeach #iPhonePhotography by @iyonr
On quiet nights, prisoners on Alcatraz could hear the city — music, parties, boats. The guards said that was the hardest part. Being close to something isn’t the same as having it. 📍 Hyde Street, Russian Hill, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #Alcatraz #RussianHill #iPhonePhotography #StreetView by @iyonr
This is the other bridge. It opened six months before the Golden Gate and carries more than twice the traffic. Fame and usefulness aren’t the same thing. Sometimes they’re not even on the same bridge. 📍 Russian Hill, San Francisco, California #SanFrancisco #BayBridge #NorthBeach #iPhonePhotography #NegativeSpace by @iyonr
People come for the curves. Turns out the curves were pointing at this the whole time. 📍 Lombard Street, Russian Hill, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LombardStreet #CoitTower #iPhonePhotography #MoodySky by @iyonr
This is the other side of Lombard Street. After the eight famous curves, the road just goes straight down. The winding part gets the photos. The straight part gets you there. 📍 Lombard Street, Russian Hill, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LombardStreet #CoitTower #iPhonePhotography #CityView IndoTravellers by @iyonr
The zigzag wasn’t a design idea. It was a solution — the hill was too steep to drive straight, so in 1922 they bent the road eight times. Some of the most beautiful things start as a way around a problem. 📍 Lombard Street, Russian Hill, San Francisco #SanFrancisco #LombardStreet #RussianHill #iPhonePhotography #VisitCalifornia by @iyonr
