„Wedjat Eye”- the left eye of Horus became a very special symbol for the ancient Egyptians. It was shaped in various sizes and materials as a powerful, protective amulet. Its symbolism is tightly connected to the ancient myth of Osiris and specifically- his son Horus, whose left eye was torn out by Seth during their fight for the throne. According to this story, the damaged eye of falcon - Horus was healed and restored by Toth- the lunar god of wisdom, so the healing process became an important lunar symbol reflecting the progressive filling of the moon sphere. The meaning of Egyptian word „wedjat”- „the whole; the restored one” reveals the faith in the continual reintegration of universal harmony; indicates hope in overcoming the weakness and disorder. The composition of my „araboglyph” combines the ancient symbol with the Arabic word واجد which means „finder” and „lover”- someone who is “perfectly complete in presence” Majority of works in the cycle „Wonderful Things” includes the special hue of blue which refers to the color of lapis lazuli stone and endless sky. It is being obtained with a big help of Sun. by @izabelauchman
In February 1996 I landed in Cairo for the first time as an enthusiastic and curious traveler. One of my first destinations was of course, The Egyptian Museum, where I met the very special Person- Andrzej Ćwiek, outstanding scholar of Egyptology. I will never forget this first visit in The Egyptian Museum, not only because of the “wonderful things” I saw for the first time, but also because of the amazing explanations provided by Andrzej. His passion for the ancient Egyptian art, language and history was heard in each of his word and that’s how I got “infected” with this incurable fascination. Few years later I had the opportunity to work with Andrzej Ćwiek in Hatshepsut Temple - the absolutely unique spot of ancient history. I was starting my career as a conservator of art, very eager to learn as much as possible about the ancient Egypt. Andrzej became my guide, whose knowledge, enthusiasm and unique angles of looking at Egyptian language opened for me the new path, which I am following till now as an artist. For many years I had the privilege of exchanging with Andrzej ideas and brainstorming, courageous researches . His enthusiasm and curiosity never faded. Unfortunately I never had and never will have the chance to share with Him the joy of visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum…due to His untimely death. Nevertheless, I hope that like Chepri - He is coming into the other happy Being. Remembering our valuable Friendship, I dedicate my cycle “Wonderful Things” to the memory of Andrzej Ćwiek with my gratitude for All Wonderful Inspirations… May your Heart be well balanced with the feather of Ma’at, my dear Friend… by @izabelauchman
The new “Araboglyph” collection is being unfolded in Alkemia Boutique in Grand Egyptian Museum. All works belongs to the cycle “Wonderful Things” are inspired by the ancient objects presented in King’s Tut Gallery. The title refers to the famous words of Howard Carter uttered in awe after discovering the Tutankhamun’s tomb. When Carter was peeking through the small hole in the sealed doorway of the tomb, lord Carnarvon asked him impatiently: “can you see anything?”. Totally stunned and mesmerized discoverer, whispered the short answer: “Yes, wonderful things”. I am very thankful to Alkemia Team and especially the director Ewelina Trzpis for giving me the opportunity to present my works in this special venue. by @izabelauchman

“The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.” My newest project “Let the Wind blow” is currently featured in the Cairo Art Gallery as part of the exhibition “A Place Between Us” curated by Mahmoud Hamdy. My windy cycle consists of the art book “Born with the Wind- the Diary of the Journey without end” and the two paintings which are completing the story. We are living in a rapidly changing world- it became so noisy - so many superficial whistles disturb the sound of the Wind. In many different cultures, the wind has been used as a symbolic parallel of the Spirit; philosophers, spiritual teachers and sages have been deliberating on its qualities and weaving the structure of soul development. I collected the quotes concerning this matter from various sources and incorporated them in my artbook. You can find in it words by Rumi, Aristotle, St.John, Confucius, Einstein, Dickens, Witkacy, Heraklit, Seneka, Marcus Aurelius and many others. Texts are interlacing the river of time, creating the flow of the universal reality. So come to Cairo Art Gallery and unveil your own unique story in my “Dairy of the Journey without end”… by @izabelauchman
