Are you Victrebeel? 🌷

No! This isn't a carnivorous plant but an Aristolochia lutea, a plant with an analogous shape. 🌿

Its flower is modified to form a pitfall trap for the pollinators, in order to coat them well with pollen. 🪰

Ghosts of history 📖 ♟️📚

These two resin reproductions represent historical chess pieces:

Left-> The rook depicting a berserker (Norse fury warrior) from the 'Lewis chess-set' (12th century), found on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. It was carved in walrus ivory.

Right -> The pawn from the 'Charlemagne chess-set' (11th/12th century), probably produced between Salerno and Amalfi, Italy. This one was made using elephant ivory.

🎃 Happy Halloween with Apertochrysa and its “cadaveric defense tower” 🐛🏰☠️

1. The larval stage of Apertochrysa sp. (a Neuropteran, like antlions) covers its back with debris and remains of its prey — in this case, corpses and fragments of spiders and ants 🕷️🐜.

2. The beautiful adult, the green lacewing, ready to find love 💕.

These two photos probably show the same individual, found in the same location a few days apart.

They’re practically Trapinch and Flygon ✨.
