Finally getting around to sharing my senior project and mixed media installation “Sanará Mañana”

This body of work is a physical representation of piecing together my childhood, what keeps me connected to my culture, memories, traditions and cultural pride. As well as my ongoing process of reconnecting, learning, and relearning about my culture. In this body of work, I am exploring how these complex feelings coexist.

It feels so crazy to be done with this project and with school ahhh! So excited for where life takes me next☀️☀️💐💐💐

Finally getting around to posting the dress I made for the Meximalismo fashion show!

This was such a wonderful opportunity💞💞
It was my first time ever making a dress-which definitely had its challenges but it was so fun I’d love to make more in the future 🫶🏻

This dress captures the magic of Colombia and celebrates how nature is deeply tied to cultural
identity and pride, as it is the world’s second-most biodiverse country. The cultural slogan and
cumbia song, Colombia Tierra Querida, served as the starting point. Its design and bold colors
drew inspiration from traditional cumbia dresses, Colombia’s biodiversity and artesanías which are often nature-inspired and made from natural fibers and materials. Each ruffle highlights aspects of the country’s biodiversity, including the Amazonian, Andean, and Caribbean regions, with their distinct ecosystems, plant life, and weather that shape the culture and traditions of each area; the dry and rainy seasons; the páramos; the variety of butterfly, bird,
and orchid species; and more.

Welcome to Keikosx World 🌎 💫💘

Wanted to post some of the photos by themselves from my shoot with @izzy_leto 🫶🏽

Really happy with how these came out and how they fully capture the essence of me & my home!

I can hear my future children now going through the archive saying how cool mommy was 🤣😅

I’m really grateful for the privilege of housing and growing up in a home that was safe and grounded.

I’m also grateful for the community that exists in the hood. People always shame poverty but it’s really in our low-income/ “middle” class neighborhoods where you truly see the beauty in humanity. And the beauty and intelligence in ALL Gods diverse children 🙏🏽

Housing and community is a basic human right that is more sacred than we acknowledge.

I pray we all find a place to feel safe in, to create, dream, cry and exist in our full essence. Especially when things get hard 🙏🏽 taken in Minneapolis, Minnesota by @izzy_leto

Had such a fun photoshoot with @izzy_leto earlier this week ⭐️

The theme was Keikosx lifestyle! I invited her to my home and we spent about 1.5 hours capturing my natural essence 🎀

It’s been really important for me to document my lived experience and the different flows of myself since embarking on this healing journey!

My home is my sanctuary. It’s the one place that I truly feel safe, understood and free. Within this space I’ve tried to cultivate my childhood dream of what I thought adulthood would be like for me.

I would say this design style is a twist between modern, Afrocentric and whimsical!

Many of the paintings and art on the wall was done by myself and friends. It was so fun to do this collage edit because it truly highlights who I am and the energy of the spaces I try to create 🪷

When I think about what it means to exist as a Black creative, to me it represents the vasts cosmos of the universe and the endless possibilities of life & creation that surrounds us.

Every day I choose to see the world through a dream-like state because we truly have the power to make it up in whatever way we want.

I hope that as I continue to share my journey and work with the world, that more Black people embrace their innate creative mind and spirit to just say NIGGAS WAS HERE when we all transition to the new realm 🌠 taken in Minneapolis, Minnesota by @izzy_leto
