No dia 20 de outubro, a COSMO e a AQI apresentam um novo território da pesquisa Orgulhos do Brasil, que investiga conversas públicas e espontâneas na internet para compreender o que mobiliza o orgulho dos brasileiros.

Desta vez, o encontro propõe uma conversa sobre pertencimento, comunidade, identidade, fé e resistência, ampliando os olhares sobre as diferentes formas de viver e expressar o orgulho no Brasil.

Com Camila Holpert, Rafael Kenski, Mafoane Odara, Izzy Cerullo e Valter Rege, vamos explorar as narrativas que conectam pessoas, constroem identidades e fortalecem o sentimento de fazer parte.

Why does National Coming Out Day matter to me? I came out to my parents when I was 21. But I had already known for years, many years, that I had feelings for girls. Growing up, I had no words to understand what I was feeling. My environment was very heteronormative and casual homophobia was the norm.

For so much of my adolescence, I felt scared, ashamed, and lonely in my impossible effort to ignore an undeniable part of myself. Deep down, I simply couldn’t believe that I could be my full, true self and also feel accepted and happy in the world.

When I finally got the courage to tell my parents that I was dating a girl, they were beyond supportive. I feel lucky that they have only ever shown me that they want me to be happy, and do their best to support me in those pursuits. Even so, it took me close to a decade to be able to be honest with myself and brave enough to be transparent with them.

In the close to 15 years since then, I continue to come out all the time. I make conscious choices every day to be loudly out: from how I choose to dress, or cut my hair; to kissing my beautiful partner in public; to bringing my full self to professional and academic spaces; to sharing my story… because little Izzy wasn’t able to see any of that. It sure would have changed my life.

If you read this and are on a coming out journey, whatever coming out means to you, I see you and I love you. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

September, you were a roller coaster!

Dove into new and challenging topics in school 🧠🫀🫁, stayed up late for @lucydacus and @robynkonichiwa (thank you, @dontyou_derher and @dogtorfarrell), discovered that we need to teach Tony how to swim, never enough beach time, towed my car to the mechanic for the first time, was left speechless by the sky.

10 anos (e poucos dias) desde um dos capítulos mais intensos, marcantes e inesquecíveis da minha vida. Tudo começou com um sonho (mas é verdade né, que sonho que se sonha junto é realidade?), mas que ultrapassou qualquer coisa que eu poderia imaginar.

Muitas pessoas, quando descobrem que participei dos Jogos, perguntam se ganhei. Não foi uma medalha, mas as conquistas foram muitas. Cravamos nossa marca entre as melhores equipes do mundo no maior palco, garantindo a continuação do programa feminino de 7s (embora enfrentaríamos vários desafios ainda). Mostramos nosso rugby para um estádio lotado, uma torcida vibrando conosco, nem sabendo que algumas jovens nos assistindo iriam procurar um clube depois e se tornariam Yaras dali uns anos. Entrei em contato com e abracei minha brasilidade, com muito orgulho; uma ressignificação de identidade e autoconhecimento. Encontrei uma família, um propósito. Fui transformada.

Gratidão infinita por essa bola oval e à comunidade que é apaixonada por ela.

For the one-foot-in-front-of-the-other fam 😅. Sometimes it’s hard to start, but I always feel proud of myself afterwards! And don’t be fooled… we’re not sprinting, this is 10 min/mile pace.

It’s so, so hard letting go of and not comparing myself to the athlete I used to be. It’s a continuous process of rediscovering and reframing my motivations and goals. Today, I’m grateful for everything my body can do, and I truly love the feeling of moving my body. No PRs, no stats. Just sweating a bit for the long game (life).
