Pt 3 : The Finale

Dear Track and Field,
I wasn’t sure if I’d ever find the right moment to share this because it still feels unreal, but today marks the “Last Lap” of an incredible journey—one filled with determination, self-doubt, trust in the process, accountability, and the belief that everything happens at the right time when you’re guided and prepared. Over the last ten years, I’ve been working toward a moment where I could feel like I accomplished the impossible. And through this team, meet after meet, I got closer to that goal—even when it didn’t mean hitting personal bests or perfect performances. This team has taught me more than I could ever express, and I’m beyond grateful to call them family.

To Coach Davis, A wise man once said, “Coaching isn’t something I do to you as an athlete; it’s something I do with you.” You’ve truly embodied that, Coach. We’ve been through so much together—from tough losses I experienced within the passing of family members last year to long days working hard in the summer to get me to where I am today. I can’t put into words how thankful I am to have you by my side. Saying goodbye to you is hands down one of the hardest things I’ll ever do. Over the last three years, you’ve taught me what resilience looks like, how to embrace trial and error, and how to trust myself when I doubted everything. You showed me that with hard work and belief, even the impossible is within reach—and together, we made it happen. I’ll always consider you not just a coach, but a mentor and a friend who’s always just a phone call away. Thank you for everything you’ve given me more than I can ever repay.

Ma Dukes, from the time I was a little girl, it’s been my dream not just to be your daughter, but to also walk proudly beside you as your Soror. You have always carried the torch of Delta Sigma Theta with such grace, strength, and unwavering commitment — a reflection of the values our 22 founders laid down for us. Watching you and all my aunties embody what it means to be a Delta has shaped the woman I am today. Thank you for lighting the path before me and for welcoming me into this legacy with open arms. I’m forever honored to continue what you so beautifully started.

Endless gratitude to our 22 founders for laying the foundation — a foundation built on empowering women to advocate for our communities through Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service. To the infLUential Lambda Upsilon Chapter, thank you for welcoming me with open arms and allowing me to continue this legacy with pride.

To my 18 E.S.T…We have been through hell and high water since stepping foot on the yard, and honestly, I wouldn’t change a single moment. Every struggle, every victory, every late-night talk and tear shed — it’s all built a sisterhood I never knew I needed, but always prayed for. Y’all have redefined what sisterhood means for me: from the endless laughter and crazy jokes, to the deep conversations, to the way we piece each other back together on the hard days.
I’m beyond proud to call y’all my sisters — my family, my backbone — in this journey called life. I love each of you more than words can say, and no matter what, you can always count on me to be your “Bob the Builder,” ready to help rebuild, lift, and carry whenever you need me.

The Graduate:

Over the course of 4 years I have been given the opportunity to walk the campus of The University of Central Arkansas to enhance my knowledge, social skills, athletic ability and most importantly finding myself! The individual who strives for greatness beyond the odds and shoots for the stars even when they seem unreachable.

UCA has shown me what “Grit”, “Sacrifice”, and “Resilience” truly means when competing for the best possible version of yourself whether that be trying to have the best GPA or just being a shoulder to cry on when you best friends need you the most.

I’ve been blessed with an atmosphere of strong individuals who have pushed me beyond my limits even when I experienced the most heartbreaking moment in my life which was losing my other half, my best friend, and my guardian angel in the moment I needed her most. Although she is no longer here I know she is looking down on me cheering me on from accomplishing the biggest achievement we’ve talked about ever since I could talk.

College is bigger than grades, and who knows who…college is the place where you find family, life long friends and what God has planned for you. UCA has shown me all of that and more. I couldn’t be more appreciative and grateful for everyone who has been by my side through thick and thin. It’s gonna be us against the world always, Love you all longtime❤️

With that being said I will be graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Health Promotions from the University of Central Arkansas On May 2nd at 3 p.m.
