Today, I felt truly inspired by sports. I normally do, but today was different.

By the 20 year old that came back 18 pole positions to win a race that hadn’t been won by an Italian in 60 years. By the two absolute bangers scored from the team that refused to take the L. By the last minute ties. By the wonderkid that continues to shine in the biggest stages, and in one of the biggest clubs in the world that somehow continues to improve. By the champions that proved once again that London is Red. By the one that battled back from 10th place to reclaim the European Masters throne for the third time in a playoff.
By the generational talent that couldn’t compete for 4 and a half months, and came back as if he never left.

So here’s to sports: Thanks for inspiring me and the world.
It’s not over till it’s over. Comebacks are written by those who refuse to accept defeat. So take your shot and make it count.

Three Derbies.
One world record.
First championships for some, lost opportunities to others.

Haaland has now scored against all 25 clubs he has faced in the Premier League for City.
Brian Brobbey scored the first hat-trick in the Premier League against City since Jamie Vardy, and the first top-flight hat-trick by a Sunderland player since Jermain Defoe. Enzo Maresca also became the sixth manager to win his first five Premier League games in charge of a club.
Tough couple of weeks for Celtic.
Real Madrid payed their Santiago Wanderers karma from Saturday.

Club football is off to the first international break of the season.

Honorable mentions that didn’t make the final cut:
Red Sox clinch a playoff spot after being last in the AL in June.
Mahomes is now 8-0 in regular-season overtime games (Chiefs 33-30 Colts).

This Sunday, sports did it again. I had a list by noon and it kept growing.

By the man who lost four of his first five Grand Slam finals, was diagnosed with diabetes at 4 years old, and now has two majors in one year.
By one of the most passionate and historic derbies in football, level at 172 wins each before today, and not level anymore.
By my first F1 race in person, here in Madrid, and the Italian kid who keeps winning them.
By the €22 million bargain who avoided what could’ve been disaster, and did so by scoring the goal of the day. Keeping Barça untouchable.
By the 10-man side, that bagged the away win at a very tough ground, in a derby. United keeps struggling week in and week out.
By the one who kept coming close, year after year, and finally got it done.
By the one who finished second, and second, and second again. Until today in Granada, he became the first Spaniard to win La Vuelta in 12 years.
By the Mexican who won in Montréal, and keeps showing the world that he’s stopped being a promise and is now the real thing.
By the immaculate inning that opened a game at Fenway. Take a bow, Payton Tolle. Bring on the postseason.
By the first Sunday of a new NFL season.

Dominance, long waits finally over, and a few firsts.… this Sunday really had it all.
More moments, more sports, more reasons why I love this so much. Hope you enjoy.
