A member of Queers for Palestine -- the stupidest of all antisemites. You have to be incredibly stupid not only to believe all the transgender BS, but also to think that the Palestinians would welcome you and not throw you off the tallest building in Gaza if you turned up there. by @j.chneour

Late to the party, I know. One of these was sold by Prada last year for $775 (£574 today). The other one I made in about 20 minutes (including looking for similar hideous yarn and a suitable charm). Who *are* the gullible people with more money than sense that brands like Prada take for a ride? by @j.chneour

J'accuse! These moths, which slipped into a zipped-up nylon bag, ignored anti-moth papers and feasted on my lovely, soft cashmere sweater. They also went around the back and munched another five holes (which I've mended invisibly, because there's no point in wasting time and energy on the backs of things).

I know it's the horrible, grey, fat grubs that eat natural fibres (and cashmere is like caviar to them), but who would want to embroider them, instead of those gold, erratically flying little b*st*rds?

This used to be a tote bag from a company called Gudrun Sjödén (if you aspire to look like a Swedish milkmaid, their clothes are for you). It was pretty but impractical: too wide and with annoying handles -- two short ones and two very long ones that flopped about. My partner gave it to me (seven years ago, yikes). I never used it. Recently, she said she needed an apron because she's cooking stuff that tends to jump out of pans and stain her nice tops.

So, I made her an apron with the bag. It worked like a charm. I only had to cut out two small pieces of material to shape the bib. I joined all the handles together and threaded them through two funnels -- one on each side. This makes the apron adjustable, depending on how high you want it to come up to on your chest.

She now says she doesn't want to use it because it'll get dirty. But things are meant to be used, right? That bag felt useless in my drawer. It's happy now; it has a new life.

Watchers of The Great British Sewing Bee, I think I won the Transformation Challenge this time. All sewn by hand, btw: my sewing machine is not easy to access in my 'bijou' studio flat.

My advice to amigurumi people: ignore suggestions to use yarn tails to sew an item to a base, a body or anything else. Finish up the item. Thread the ends in. Then, use a new length of yarn to attach it to whatever. Otherwise, if you have to cut it off to reposition it, it might unravel. I moved the holly leaves, berries, etc. around several times before being satisfied with the arrangement. I felt secure that nothing would be damaged by my doing so. It's worth the extra bit of effort.

If you're a knitter, I'm sure you know that circular knitting needles are a pest -- to store. They wriggle and slither and spring up and hit you in the face when you try to corral them. There are lots of ways of putting them away, but I think the best one is in small fabric cases like the ones shown here. I wanted to find a pattern to make me some. A ‘free’ one because there are things that are worth paying for, but this isn't one of them. There wasn't one anywhere so I studied some pics I found on Pinterest, Instagram, YouTube -- basically everywhere -- and worked out a pattern for myself. And here it is.

1) Get two pieces of fabric (not stretchy, crisp cotton is best) measuring 17.8cm by 16.5cm and cut out two pieces according to the measurements shown. Two measurements have been truncated by Insta here. Please see pattern with full measurements in following post.

2) Sew those two pieces (right side against right side) around B, C, D, E, F, G and A to H. There's an 8mm seam allowance.

3) Turn inside out after cutting off the six corners and making a notch in 7 and 8. Make sure the corners are as pointy as possible (I use skewers or chopsticks).

4) Press along the seams. If you've use two different fabrics, turn the piece so the lining is on the outside. Fold AB and GH towards the centre and sew them together, making sure the front is lying flat. Turn the work out. Press that seam flat.

5) Work out where you want to flap to come down to. If you're gonna use snap fasteners, sew them on now while you have full access to the inside of the case. (I didn't and sewing them on was a bloody nuisance. My buttons are just for decoration.)

6) Create funnels for the needles on each side by sewing parallel to the edges from the bottom to just under 2.5cm from the top of the front part (so the looped cord can be accommodated). I went down one side, then across the bottom and up the other.

7) That's it! Stand back and admire your work. Slip the needles into their comfy case. :-)

I know -- another pair of mittens. *yawn* I actually knitted these before the Japanese ones. From a tutorial on YouTube by Roxanne Richardson. There's no real pattern: you take some measurements and follow the instructions. I got my measurements slightly wrong so the mittens were too big for my hands, but perfect for my partner's so she's modelling them here, and keeping them, of course. by @j.chneour

Once in a while, not very often, I feel the need to make something useful, instead of toys or trinkets. Instagram keeps bombarding me with intriguing patterns that I'm eager to try, so I thought I would knit a pair of Japanese fingerless mittens. They've been designed by a clever German guy called Bernd Kestler, who lives in Japan. I followed a YouTube tutorial by Ritu Creations (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=o_wi3GEYVBw). It's in Hindi, but you can see quite clearly what she does. It's fun.

Anyway, here's the finished product. I'm going to pretend I always meant the cuff to be a different colour. by @j.chneour

My 'chimera' teddy bear: the body is Sophie Scott's Otso Bear. The head is inspired by Susan B Anderson's Good Bear. The clothes are my own designs.

If anyone knows how to make this little bear look ahead rather than up, please let me know. With short rows maybe?

I've been wanting to yarn bomb this cute stone lion for ages. Back in February, I thought I might knit it a scarf, but he would have discarded it by now. I couldn't reach his head so I had to seek my partner's help in this perilous mission. 😁
