New greeting cards are in! If you’re in Vermont, check out Hunger Mountain Co-op in Montpelier after about 7/9/25 for restocked cards: Dandelion, Happy Birthday, Heart, & many others, plus a newbie:

MT RAINIER-TAHOMA IS HERE!!
A brand new card that celebrates our most famous (arguably most gorgeous?) peak in Washington State.. & also pays tribute to the beautiful Native American heritage. Tahoma/Tacoma, meaning “Mother of All Waters” was the original name for the peak. We support the campaign to reinstate this meaningful name & honor the Native legacy.
This mountain has the most spiritual quality to it…. It is very hard to describe in words just how spellbinding it is to see it, even from a distance. The cars on the highway literally slow down mid-commute just to see it— truly breathtaking. Painting this in Nov of 2024 was really almost a dream— just one brushstroke after another, so intuitive. I had to stop myself from “over-fixing” it, & very glad I did ;)

See my online store at www.jheloise.com to purchase, or click the link in my bio directly above. An art print version of Rainier-Tahoma will be available soon too, DM if interested.

If anyone happens to have contacts at Metropolitan Market, PCC Markets, or the food Co-op in Bellingham (or other healthy grocery stores), please let me know! I would love to speak with them about wholesale greeting cards for their stores 😊🙂

PS Thanks soooo much to the incredible Megan Maloy for phenomenal photography, and developer Matt Kandl for helping me every step of the way w/ coding for my elaborate crazy visions. 2 years in the making..

This website has been a labor of love, blood, sweat, tears, way more snacks and angry chats with customer service reps than I care to mention 😂🤣

FYI - all greeting cards are packaged in eco-friendly plastic, envelopes are 50% brown recycled paper, & company is woman-owned, run sustainably.

I can’t wait for y’all to see all this!! ☺️Tell me what you think….Xoxoxo

Upcoming music: “Letter to a Lover (Precious Face)” by me, Heloise. I did decide on a title! Lol..

I love songwriting so much — it’s the best kind of puzzle. Sort of a funny intersection between words, chords/music, rhythm, & some intangible quality of storytelling… and yet the story doesn’t truly come together until the song is done. This was from 9.21.2024. Lucky to have been able to spare the time to write it— hoping to find a good open mic in the North Seattle area!! Have gotten a few suggestions for venues, but definitely open to more ;) xoxo

This is for my Jane Doe’s out there. “The Game.” Acoustic version. A song I wrote many years ago (2018?ish) while trying to reckon with two parallel experiences … the first was SA, that occurred in my teens. The second was a long journey as a businessperson (esp a woman in business), so often finding that it was a world a little bit rigged, a bit like a game where everyone else knows the rules but you… the song’s meaning is a bit fluid, I like my work to speak to whatever situation the viewer/listener perceives it as… but I wanted to explore some of the deeper meanings behind life situations that sometimes go undiscussed. The end of the song is also open to interpretation. Perhaps redemption, perhaps denial, or acceptance..

Would love to hear your thoughts! As with all my songs, I look forward to adding percussion & other instruments, to move past the “singer-songwriter realm” and perhaps lessen the intensity a bit.

A few things:
- Every woman is a survivor of something, even if it’s a painful experience with a partner they loved, or a near-miss where a predator almost got to them (which is already a form of intimidation, harassment and control)
- In case you don’t watch the whole video, I too am a survivor
- Sexual assault also happens to children & they often can’t find words to talk about it, or are dissociated so much that they cannot even learn, or are language impaired by it
- My math was just random estimates, and may have been off— bc if 50% of the population is male and 5% of men rape 2 different women a year, then they’d get to the entire female population in just 10 years not 20.
— Men rape men too. Women also do sexually abuse sometimes.
— The actual reality is probably more like a messy chart with all sorts of crossover from intimate partner violence, to childhood SA, to gruesome r*apes, to men ignoring consent on dates etc… This is why most women, if you really listen, will tell you they’ve prob had one or more “terrible” ones, then a handful of “ugh yeah now that I think about it, it was awful”, and then some “ugh yeah he did a thing he shouldn’t have that put me in pain or danger of pregnancy/STD’s”… and then a few “god I was lucky to get out of that one unharmed”… and also some “ugh I could tell a coworker was trying to get me to ____, so I left the job” etc etc etc
— Porn today is absolutely part of the problem & I will stand on that hill. I’m convinced the scenes that men and teen boys see in porn trigger mental pathways that they then come to WANT, or associate with turns them on. They then seek and expect that from women— even if it’s a 100% painful, torturous or disrespectful experience for the woman. BDSM used to be a niche thing that partners only delved into if they’d been together a long time, had built up full trust, and had full agreement going into it. It wasn’t something guys expected on the first date without asking. Remember- rough sx can actually be torture for the other person.

Personally, I’d like to see a tech-hacker type make an anonymous database, if this doesn’t exist already, where women can name who assaulted them, when and where. by @j.heloise.official

Well. It’s my birthday tomorrow (Sep 30), and I baked myself an ugly delicious cake (yesss!) slide 14 lol.
SWIPE.
ART:
— Guitar art piece from Aug 22. Still doesn’t have a title yet, intended as a surface design… I realized only after I painted it that the layers each symbolized a part of the song— the voice at top, then words, guitar, the material/wood of guitar, and music pouring forth. Incidentally, I’d recently seen my actual vocal chords at a doctor visit (camera down the nose), and I was shocked at how small and… bodily they looked. Just these little pink flaps opening and closing. Yet magic there.
— “Earth, Wind, Water, Fire, Human”, from Sept 10. This was an integration of yoga poses w other symbols, a lot of fun to paint :) It’s pretty small, the details are harder than you’d think- took prob about 3 hours. FYI, originals are always on a white background.
— butterfly just for fun, for a kiddo. Drawn freehand, then cut. 🙂
— “Are We The Humans?”… this work is buried, the 13th slide, but it’s a recent favorite. I went in with the intention of painting faces, but didn’t know where it would lead. By the fourth face, it became clear that the last one had become a bot. And I couldn’t stop it. There’s a tension here between real human expression- genuine, suffering, aware - and the lifeless mimicry of bots, and AI. The wrongness of it all. The day I painted this, my GPS navigation voice had been changed to an AI voice. The intonation was all off, yet I couldn’t get the old human voice back. I had to drive that way all day, with this weird bot telling me when to get off the freeway. 🙃….
— “Fear is a choice (Sharks, Boat & Diver)”

Pics of me—
— on a hike in a very shitty arabesque — BUT HAPPY!
— last pic- I’m growing to appreciate being on stage after many years of dreading it.

I’ve decided that this upcoming year, it may be harder to do the things of my soul’s calling, but I’m willing to forsake beauty, money, convenience to try.

PS. Suite 224 is VERY serious about their soap. Their labeling felt like it deserved a PSA. by @j.heloise.official

Performance from 9/27/2026. My original song “burn the bridges”, first time being sung out in the world… Thanks 100x to @nessasongs for filming! And the lovely folks who hosted & showed up to open mic @conorbyrnecoop ..
Providing some lyrics here rather than screen, bc I don’t trust Ai any further than I can throw it. Which is not at all.

Oh PS- mark your calendars! I’m scheduled to play as part of the showcase at Conor Byrne (Ballard), on Dec 2, midweek. Be there ;)

BURN THE BRIDGES by Heloise
I brought it all down to the water
Like so many hands before
Lookin’ for a way to a future
Knocking on heaven’s door

Traded all my secrets
I traded my best shirt
Traded all but the soul in my voice
And they’ll come for that soon
‘Cause they know it hurts

(CHORUS:)
And it’s a wide wide river
For the lone one on the shore
When the one who owns the bridges
Is the one who’s keeping score.
There’s nothing more lonesome
Than a hunger buried deep
When the ones who surround you
Think life’s a game for keeps.

I gave of myself to the children
To the seekers and the lone
I took only what I needed
I took alms to make something like a home
We don’t play for keeps
In the world I’d like to know
We play for the goodwill of strangers
‘Cause the world you make is better
Than the one you own

So don’t burn the bridges
And please don’t cut the pines.
‘Cause the place you hold for strangers
Is the gift or curse that follows you
Down all the lines.

For a second, I felt myself inclined to use the hashtag #blessed ??lol. Feeling so grateful to @conorbyrnepub and the good people of the music community. Open mic’s around here attract so much talent, I love hearing what everyone brings to the stage. Was very lucky to have some random photographer-types in the audience who offered me these pics & I so appreciate it! @codihoca And thanks to @nessasongs who filmed! 🙏❤️ this is my new original “Burn the Bridges” (by me, Heloise)… It is not available on any platforms until I gather enough funding to get back in the studio and record it haha…

must sleep asap or I’ll never make it to ballet tomorrow morning 😊😁xoxox by @j.heloise.official

New song! “Friday free,” written & performed by me, Heloise, a live human not AI lol..**(scroll down for a better audio version video)** From 2025-ish, debuted before some awesome humans this week. Loved this week’s gathering at @conorbyrnepub .. such an amazing open mic crowd.
🙏Thanks to @keola_kapulani for filming!!

I’ve decided against putting typed lyrics as captions on my videos. Unfortunately I know this makes them less accessible, but given that AI currently cannot understand most of what I sing (or put a coherent song together just by listening), I am not about to help it along by giving it my carefully crafted poetry, which often takes weeks for each song (simple as it may seem!).

Something I was thinking about this week is that notion that artists have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. It’s the nature of the work. You can’t even learn without assaulting your ego and acknowledging that you need to know more, and do more, and keep trying. Performing is inherently uncomfortable. NGL, I still had a bout of nervousness last night, even after so many years. I’ve come up with strategies to control the variables & train so it doesn’t catch me too off-guard. But there’s a real vulnerability— in everything worth doing, but especially in performing work you’ve written. This song was sort of about escapism, and where the line gets drawn between staying with situations too long, or perhaps simply living through what is difficult. *it is meant to have harmony!!

Was really grateful to be part of the music community this week in Seattle, & looking fwd to more shows! Xoxo #seattlemusic #seattle #womeninmusic #weekend #weekendvibes by @j.heloise.official

Ugh, Seattle. My heart aches for the dead and the injured - including a child - from today’s shooting downtown. I cannot consider myself lucky to have been elsewhere at the time, because now we all live with this grief. Our city has been delivered into violence. We are now a city where this just *happens*.

I hope the city responds with care and determination to bring justice, & protect people from future harm. Seattle Center is such a gem, & increased security there would be the very least they can do.

BTW, I painted this work mid winter (Feb 17th 2026) and hesitated to post then, but it literally fell into my hands again today while cleaning up some piles, and the timing was eerie. (*note- that plane-looking thing is a drone)

Wait for it - Toyota Prius 2004 came to the rescue! 😎🥳 (sound on 🎧)

ALSO, it’s 25% off at the shop using code SUMMER :), go to www.jheloise.com (link in bio) thru the end of July, 2026.

… a few lessons learned here-
- sometimes the painting you think should be the absolute worst, the one you hide in a drawer, but it ends up being your favorite.
- Some paintings come to you easily, step after step, but others are a struggle. It’s always worth fighting thru till the end, bc ‘you never know’
- ALWAYS bring the large, panoramic sized paper to the Olympics. There will never be a better time to use it - the ridgelines are so vast…
- the Girl Scout skill of “making do with what you have” will serve you for life

Should I make this the next greeting card or art print?

I can’t wait to do more plein air (outdoor) painting this summer… if you’re in the seattle area & wanna do a hike/paint adventure, let me know! #🎨 #art #outdoors #olympicnationalpark #seattle @toyotausa @toyota @teamtoyota by @j.heloise.official
