New work!

Emergence

Concrete, Tar Gel, Mica Powder, Mirror balls, 3D Filament, Crushed Black Glass

2026

This piece imagines growth not as a clean or singular process, but rather as multilayered, strange, and excessive. The landscape becomes the body, body becomes the landscape, and surface becomes performative. I used inspiration from the underside of cypress knee bark paired with acts of camp to consider what it means to emerge into a more visible version of oneself.

This piece is on view in our UNT sculpture Fall 2026 exhibition on view in the UNT CVAD sculpture project space now through Friday August 21,2026 by @j.m.phillips

Late post but what a wonderful 2026 Student Shop Managers Consortium conference! Spent the early part of July in San Luis Obispo, CA @calpoly with this amazing organization learning about safety compliance, enhancing shop safety, building shop culture, and much much more!

Top conference highlights:

We had @built.pretty as our keynote, so inspiring!

Meeting so many wonderful new faces!

Hearst castle-Jaw dropping

Learning about creating a more enhanced community within our shops

This year, after 5 years, I have stepped off the board to focus on my art and where the next chapter of life takes me. This board has been like family and I have seen many good things happening throughout my time. I’m very excited to see where the new board takes SSMC! taken in San Luis Obispo, California by @j.m.phillips

I’m excited to announce I’m a Monster Art Rally artist! This is a one day event in Denton where artists make work before your eyes. I’ll be making my artwork live, and you have the chance to collect a piece as I crank them out. Come support me and other local artists, and see what the Denton art scene is all about.
