This was the moment that changed everything. 🤯🙌🏽

One of my favorite moments from Roosevelt’s recording. Up until this point, @j.rnelson___ had been leading the song, but then @roosevelt_stewart_ii kicked off this chant and the entire room shifted.

The energy was contagious. The chemistry was effortless. I’ll never forget looking over and seeing JR hit me with one word…

“GO.” 🏃🏽‍♂️💨

No rehearsal. No overthinking. Just pure musical trust and a moment that none of us will ever forget. 🥹

Moments like these are why I love what I do. There’s nothing like watching a song come alive in real time.

CHEERS TO @missjillscott on kicking off the tour. “Pressha” is such a great song, and I wanted to chime in from a different perspective.

For a long time, I thought I had to fit a certain mold to be effective. Dress like them. Sound like them. Create like them. Move like them.

But God never asked me to be somebody else.

The pressure to blend in can get so loud that you start questioning the very things God put in you—your personality, your story, your voice, your perspective.

What if the thing that makes you different is the very thing God wants to use?

Not everyone is called to present their gift the same way. The goal isn’t to look like everyone else. The goal is to be faithful with what God gave you.

I’m learning that authenticity takes more faith than imitation.

I love full circle moments.

About two years ago, I felt the push to start singing more. I knew I could sing, knew there was something there, but I refused to step into something new without guidance if I could have it. Taking lessons with @jalisafaye was a no-brainer. She’s truly one of the best…musical, intentional, versatile, sensitive and will always have you back on the any platform.

And let me say this clearly, I PAID. I invested in her business because I knew she would challenge the way I think and sharpen my gift.

She taught me how important preparation is, writing everything down, being intentional with adlibs, choosing notes within chords, and approaching songs with purpose. Her classes didn’t just sharpen my skill, they built my confidence. I became more specific and intentional about how I grow.

I’ve had moments where I was thrown into the fire by some greats, that’s a classic way of getting better (it helped, no question), not fully understanding technique showed me how valuable one-on-one development really is. There’s nothing like taking the time to truly refine your gift.

So going from being in a class… to now standing on a platform in that same kind of setting, with the SAME teacher who helped shape me, is crazy.

So yeah… this is an appreciation post. I’m grateful for you, Lissss.
