VOR x Lodenfrey

Another great partnership for us and a perfect positioning and representation of the brand.

A huge thank you to all the incredibly motivated and passionate people from Team @lodenfrey , Team @vor.shoes and Team @alexdegelstudio , who made our kick-off under the motto “Local. Friendship.” such a great experience.

I keep saying it over and over again, crazy attention to detail pays off!

And of course, all of this would be pretty boring without celebrating it with the right crowd, so big props go out to everyone who came and shared the moment with us! taken in LODENFREY by @j.rohwerk

From the initial idea to the final product.
It’s a long way. A very long way.

If you were to show it to an outsider, they wouldn’t believe how much sweat and energy, determination, work steps and, above all, passion are needed to hold a finished shoe in your hands at the end.

At the beginning, with the first pullover in front of you, it is usually a long way through several valleys of tears to the final result.

You have to believe in your vision, convince others of it, coordinate every last detail with your developers and never lose sight of your goal.

Once you have achieved this, it is all the more thrilling when you hold your design in your hands as a finished product.

To this day, just like when I started my first footwear project for @puma , I’m as excited as a little kid with a big smile on my face when I see one of my products on the street or in its intended area of use.

I’m a big fan of real human interaction!

That’s what ultimately drives, inspires, and pushes me, real people and real experiences.

Our showroom with @lutzmorris in Milan during Fashion Week was clear proof of that once again.

Together with @tina_lutzmorris, @alexdegelstudio, @alexanderwerz from @karlaotto and @stefanarmbruster we presented a sophisticated and beautifully refined collection under the title

„A German take on slow fashion, form, and function“

to a select audience from the fashion industry.

We had the opportunity to make some very exciting new contacts, engage in inspiring discussions, and present our work to a most interesting selection of guests.

Milan, I do like you very much!

P.S. I wish there was a @lespecialita in Munich.

P.P.S. Unfortunately, I couldn’t buy the new jeans because they made me look like Kris Kross. taken in Milan, Italy by @j.rohwerk

So, what’s been going on lately?

Achievements, creativity, rediscoveries and connections.

We celebrated VOR’s 15th anniversary with friends, shared unforgettable moments in Milan and enjoyed the success of a special Westwing project.

New product launches, inspiring and super productive sessions in Portugal and exciting collaborations have fueled our passion.

My PUMA designs have found their way into a museum and an exhibition at Paris Fashion Week. Into a card game, articles and interviews and the hands of people who truly connect with them.

I’ve reunited with old friends, made new ones, discovered brilliant new talents, explored new cities and shared marvelous adventures with my family.

The year is far from over… so I’m excited to see what else is to come.

A bit of @puma Levitation history Pt.2:

"Product Briefing:

A shoe which defines motorsport (car racing) in a totally new way. The product has to provide an outlook into the car world of tomorrow!

I was given quite a bit of creative freedom, the product was to have a high tech appeal, look distinctly different from the other inline products to date and continue to drive the motorsport category as an innovation-driving category within the company.

I took this as the basis for my project, but wanted to take the product even further into the future than ‘just’ giving a glimpse of the car wold of tomorrow.

My design approach was, what would the operation of racing cars of the future look like in 2030 or 2040, which performance requirements are still given (cushioning, adaptation to the foot, protection, etc.), but may have to be solved in a new way and which completely new requirements for such a product will be added.

As I have always been fascinated and inspired by transportation design, cars, sci-fi and all things of this kind, I took a close look at concept cars, future transportation visions, spaceships and the like for the design process.

How do reimagined systems work, but above all, what do reimagined systems look like in terms of styling?

What are their lines and proportions, how do they interact with other systems, etc.?

I then designed a futuristic pedal system especially for embedding my design proposals in this theme world, which will be operated with this shoe in a future race car.“

Back at PUMA

Invited by the Big Cat to join a deep dive into the PUMA Archive, led by the Grand Master @tung_hoang_ , I came back to my personal roots, back to the beginning of my Footwear Design career, back to a stimulating hotbed of energy, ideas, and passion.

Not only did I have the great pleasure of hugging my long-time @puma companions Florence, founder of @studio__encore and Romain, now VP of Innovation, but I also met our new friends Rhea and Max from @andro1dgirl , who had travelled all the way from Australia to Herzo to join us, enriching the tour with their incredible knowledge, passion, and wonderful personalities.

Special gems were unpacked, curiosities admired, and some major milestones of our work revisited. Expertise was exchanged, details and Easter eggs shared, along with countless behind-the-scenes stories from the creation of the shoes.

It truly was a wild rollercoaster ride down memory lane!

There were also a few glimpses behind the scenes, which I’m not allowed to talk about here, but believe me, things are really heating up in the kitchen.

I’m not easily impressed, but this time, I really was.

And to top it all off, I had the unexpected joy of running into a few more cool guys - you know who you are.

I just love connecting and exchanging with like-minded people!

Fantastic day! Thank you, PUMA!

Hello 2025!

This is going to be big!

Not only are we celebrating 15 years of VOR

(yes, we’ve come this far)

but it’s also the 20th anniversary of my very first footwear design for @puma , the Future Cat.
Designed in 2003, the pro fireproof versions Hi and Mid and their lifestyle editions Hi, Mid and Low were launched in 2005.

The Future Cat was, to put it mildly, a big game changer for Puma and initiated a whole new era for the Puma Motorsport category with its new, futuristic design approach that was in radical contrast to the previous, more retro-inspired models.

This shoe not only shaped the future path for Puma, but also for me as a designer. It was the foundation stone for everything that followed.

Without that shoe, we probably wouldn’t be celebrating 15 years of @vor.shoes .

Thank you destiny for bringing me together with Puma.
A big part of my heart will always be closely connected to this brand. by @j.rohwerk

A bit of @puma Levitation history:

„As is usually the case with more radical concepts, you are told early on that it will never work, nobody can implement it, it will be far too expensive...

So I had to tear down a few walls to realize the concept into a real shoe.

Luckily I also had Gavin Ivester/ @g_nur_g , the then VP of footwear behind me as a supporter of the design, who believed in it and stood behind the project as an advocate.

For the development of the Levitation outsole, we had to make several rounds of prototypes, as there was no 3D development at PUMA or 3D printing at the time.

I went to Taiwan several times to build and test models with the team on site, I molded view models at home from modeling foam and even sat at home at night on my computer and made 3D models in Rhino.

In the end, we not only managed to release the Levitation as we know it today (naturally making a few compromises due to reality and the cost factor) as a new and innovative product for PUMA, we even filed a patent for „die schwebende Fersenkonstruktion“ (the floating heel construction,) which even silenced the last of the initial naysayers.“
