Jonesboro High School Cardinals | Player Spotlight
Another player who showed flashes of what could be coming for Jonesboro High School during the Red & White Spring Game was Class of 2028 WR Jadarius Slaton.
Standing 6’4”, 185 pounds, Slaton brings size, athleticism, and big-play potential to the Cardinals’ receiving corps. As a rising junior, he has a chance to become a major piece in the offense and help take pressure off rising senior Benjamin Myles Boyd, another versatile weapon Jonesboro expects big things from this season.
With Boyd lined up on one side and Slaton bringing his length and playmaking ability on the other, defenses may have a tough time trying to overcompensate for one without giving the other opportunities to make plays. That type of balance could be huge for the Cardinals as they continue building their offensive identity.
Of course, the success of Jonesboro’s wide receiver group will be strongly connected to the development and production of rising junior quarterback Justin Alto, who is expected to step into the role as the Cardinals’ next starting quarterback. If Alto can settle in and command the offense, Jonesboro has the type of weapons that could make things very interesting in the 2026-2027 season.
Slaton is also no stranger to big-time moments. He contributed to Jonesboro’s successful Final Four basketball season, showing that he understands how to compete when the lights are bright.
Now the question becomes: how will all of that athleticism, experience, and potential translate to the football field this season?
We’ll have to wait and see.
