In the Mercedes SLR, the front logo (the Mercedes star) also works as an air intake. But even though it's open for air, water doesn’t easily get inside the engine. Why? 1. Smart design: The intake is built with special angles and channels that let air in but push water away. 2. Drainage system: If some water does get in, it’s guided safely out through small drains, so it doesn’t reach important parts. 3. Air filter protection: There’s an air filter behind the intake that blocks moisture and dirt from going into the engine. 4. Tested for rain: The whole system is tested to handle rain, washing, and even splashes while driving. So, the car gets the airflow it needs without letting harmful water inside.
