Something on the horizon 🪽💫💫

For days and even months on it might feel like you’re floating into abyss, a nothingness with a lack of direction some days. Although happy and fulfilled in the daily, something feels like it is missing. And then one day it falls into place and you can look back and see that what was meant to happen did and it ultimately led you to finding today.

Personal reflections from my diary ✨🪐 (some words substituted for privacy)

I yearn to live in a city that sleeps.

I picked up my take away spring rolls and walked for miles gazing into strangers windows, something the Dutch do well with their curtain-less facades.

Open suitcases, half unpacked, but remained neatly tucked on the hardwood floor. I wondered, were they leaving or going? Was this the remnants of a memorable trip gone by or eager anticipation of one to come.

I glanced around at the bikes, parked on every street corner and sidewalk, like steel ghosts in the night, piles upon piles, some perhaps stranded and others I wondered how often they were used if at all.

It was 10pm and the sun had set but a blue glow pulsated in the sky above, the street lamps shone a bright yellow onto the grey cement.

I thought of all the months gone by, memories made, thoughts come and gone and wished that I’d documented more in reflective poetry or peaceful words rather than the thousands of photographs now trapped in my phone.

Recently I’d felt a heavy weight come over me, like someone had spiked my drink with a downer except I hadn’t drunk. Time spent in therapy, every month a different topic and trajectory would spin me into dominion.

I felt like being alone but around people I loved and knew at the same time.
