Mein Bruder @atef.alsoufi

Aber first things first…

Welcome to the family, Mrs. Alsoufi. 🤍 taken in Düsseldorf, Germany by @j_amesn

There are two different types of worlds we live in. One world, where somebody realizes that they need a change in their life and is “able” to change something about it. This, in my opinion, is luxury! I was reminded firsthand that I live in luxury. My mum taught me from a young age that I can be whoever I want to be, despite the circumstances we were living in at the moment. I recently was in another world where kids didn’t have that luxury. Instead, they lived day by day. They don't know what they will be in 10 years because they don't know if they are “able” to escape from their environment.

Yes, it was hard to see, and an exemplary realization of how fortunate I am. If it wasn’t for my mum and the people who helped her, my siblings and I could be in that same situation. An environment, unable to escape from. But we were given a chance! A chance for a different life. I am choosing that my chance is not going to be for waste! I will find a way to give back..

My tattoo stands for the people who are praying and protecting me, even if I don't know them. I can't remember my grandpa's face, but I know he always wanted us to come home together. He is watching me and is excited about what I will do with my chance. I will live my life to the fullest, but I will never forget where my roots are. 🙏🏽

Berlin can feel like a big city, especially when you’re new here.

That’s honestly one of the reasons why we started bringing people together every Thursday.

Come for a run. Meet someone new. Bring a friend. And maybe Berlin feels a little less anonymous afterwards.

This Saturday we took that same energy and made it a little bigger for Marathon Weekend. 🏃🏽‍♂️🖤

Seeing familiar faces, but also people showing up alone and meeting someone new, that was probably my favorite part.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the day happen and to @mindspace_germany for giving us a home for it.

A few moments from our first OACE Shake Out Run.

And now back to Thursdays.
18:30. Everyone’s welcome. 🖤

Who got you into running?

Bei mir war’s mein bester Freund. 🤝

Und bei dir? Wer war’s?
