I know every uncle always say they have the best niece ever, but ill stand it it the gorgeous amazing human has at no point not impressed me at the woman she is becoming.

I've not always been the best uncle I can admit that but the love has never stopped. You are the one person in are family that has done no wrong. You have always been your authentic self.

You went from car owner to home owner and mother all with grace, class and style.

Its crazy to think the little baby bouncing on my bed to Fa.

Not a day goes by that, I don't feel proud to call myself your uncle Les - Vindloo has become this breathtaking young woman.

I took you to your first Notting Hill Carnival, I got your first job at paperchase and we all know your love of music and fashion comes from me lol

“Retail taught me a lot… not always what I expected.

From working in the airport and being told I couldn’t eat my food because it ‘smelled too much’ (it was jerk chicken and rice, by the way),
to being called a token hire,
to being told I’d only go as far as a company would allow me because of the colour of my skin.

I’ve been the only Black person on a 100-person Zoom call.
I’ve had stores I manage called ‘too urban’, ‘too hip hop’—because my team looked like me.
I've even been explained to by HR what racism is and how what I was dealing with wasn't racism because they don't see it as racist.
I've ever had a mental health crisis at work because of the constant bullying I was suffering at a job. To where I thought my life didn't mean anything I should just end it here.
And still… I showed up.
I built. I created.
I took a store and pushed sales up 142%
I've taken stores from the bottom of the company to the top in the quickest space of time record.
I brought artists in, created experiences, put culture into brands for free, off my own back.

And what did I get told?
That I was only good enough to open and close a store.
So one day… I stopped.
I looked at my life and thought
is this it? Me building for others while they profit from my ideas?
Nah.
Now I’m building for me.
My ideas. My vision. My direction.
And this time… I’m the one enjoying it.”
