Here is a photo recap of New Frontiers opening for Blood Incantation last weekend in Tacoma.

I want to thank the guys in Blood Incantation for inviting us to play this special evening, it was a great experience and a beautiful theater. The whole Blood Inc. Crew was awesome and treated us very well 🙏🖤👽 always a pleasure seeing and getting to hang with you guys!

Also shout out to my bandmate Andy @brokenpressdesign for doing a killer job performing and for the excellent work designing and printing the event poster as well as printing up a special gold edition of our "Inner Dimensions" record.

The Gold Variations are sold out and there are only a few copies of our "Inner Dimensions" left before it is out of print.

Grab one at the @sfi_records bandcamp page

SOMAFREE INSTITUTE's debut full length "Exit Signal" was released one year ago!

Tim, Justin and myself (Andrew) worked on these songs over several years before landing at Louder Studios to finalize them and make it into a cohesive album through the wizardry of Tim Green. I personally could not be happier with this record.

We still have copies of both the exclusive and regular edition vinyl over on our Bandcamp page.

Existing at the nexus of the acoustic and the electronic world, Seattle’s SOMAFREE INSTITUTE expand upon the established foundation of their Vertical Helix Scan and Seek Sound Shelter EPs with their debut LP, Exit Signal. Anchored by drummer Tim Call and launched into the stratosphere by analog synth wizards Andrew Crawshaw and Justin Thomas Kleine, SOMAFREE INSTITUTE deliver seven tracks of propulsive and pulsating instrumentals that simultaneously rocket into the future while slyly navigating old school methods.

Harnessed and captured by Tim Green (The Fucking Champs, Unwound, Six Organs of Admittance) at Louder Studios, Exit Signal serves as a document of three musicians pushing and pulling against the electronic world in real time. The result is an album that beats with a human heart even as synth arpeggios, vocoded vocals, and auxiliary programmed percussion paint a chrome and neon landscape. There’s a palpable tension in that dichotomy, reinforced by SOMAFREE INSTITUTE’s suspenseful—if not outright sinister—timbral and melodic choices. Too evocative on its own merits to warrant the soundtrack designation, too dynamic to serve as a metronomic stimulant, and too engaging to merely color the air, Exit Signal is an active and engaging tactile exploration of the electronic world’s textural possibilities rendered in song form.
