Found this barried in my Canva. Can't believe I made this cute collage, for what has become one of my favorite comfort reads, and never posted it! *screams in ADHD*

I wish I could read I Wanna Be Down by Ashley Nicole for the first time again. It made me laugh and smile so much. And most of all it put me on to this song 🎶

I'm definitely gonna be re-reading this soon!

This book, right here, has a special place in my heart!

Everybody talks about the intensity of Long Shot but Hook Shot was the book that made me cry 😭💓😭. I love the way Kennedy Ryan writes. Her research and dedication to writing tough subjects with care is so evident in every book of her's that I've read.

I have this book to thank for one of my new favorite songs "You Go To My Head" by Billie Holiday.

#qotd : You every talk about a book in therapy?

This book was a journey. I was scared to read it at first because of the domestic violence plot. I knew it might trigger me. I'm glad I waited until I felt that I could handle it.

This book is a beautiful love letter to survivors and children of survivors, like me. It is an ode to love, hope, and suviorship.

I love books that show women, especially black women, being loved even when they don't feel whole, when they are amidst healing and emotional recovery. Kennedy Ryan does this so beautifully in Long Shot.

Fair Warning: The ink in Mrs. Ryan's pen is laced with crack. This is only the third book of hers I've read, and I'm hooked. Her words--her storytelling--- they arrest, strike, and balm. Don't be surprised if I bury myself in her catalog for the next month or so.

My favorite parts of this book were the sisterhood between Iris and Lotus. The pure and unwavering love between Iris and August🤎. Iris's time with MiMi. And best of all, watching Iris take her power back piece by motherfucking piece🎆.

Happy Tuesday, Booksta Fam!!

This month I read 10 BOOKS.
📚90% novella ebooks on KU
📚 10% Nonfiction Memoir via audiobook
📚approximately 1539 pages total.

I'm happy to say that April was a 4 star reading month for me. I thought I was going to fall into a slump but I didn't! I fought the slump by reading in a different format (audiobook), a different genre (Fantasy erotica), and short quick reads. Now, I think I'm ready to take on a few longer more challenging books this month, but we'll see (you never know with me lol🤷🏾‍♀️).

Happy Saturday!

I was thinking about this book the other day and realized I read Everything and More by K. Lashaun about 2 months ago and forgot to post about it! LOL

My girl Rumor is bold, sweet and fierce. She don't take no shit and is ready to fight anybody and everybody when it comes to those she loves. As the eldest daughter in her household, she's used to being a protector and nurturing others. But she doesn't have anyone to fully reciprocate the love and care she gives and allow her rest ... until West's fine ahh enters the equation.

West is a gruff ex-miltary man with a rough childhood, and did I mention Foiiiine af😏. While reading this book, I was thinking "Where is East at? Can I have East, since she's got West? I'll even take North or South! 🧎🏾‍♀️". West has trained himself to be numb, nothing effects him--nothing except Ms. Rumor 😜.

I loved watching these two go from picking fights and being constantly annoyed with eachother to loving one another unapologetically.

If you like Along for the Ride by Mimi Grace you'll loooove this.

Happy Monday!!

In His Corner by @booksbyalexandra one of my most memorable reads from March. I was in the mood for a boxing romance after watching #creediii and this book scratched that itch.

*Mini* Synopsis:
Princeton is a boxing champion, known for being a beast in the ring, but when it comes to the witty and alluring journalist, Bella, he's a total Care Bear 🐻 💗.

"Falling for each other proves to be an easy feat. But going the distance becomes the biggest challenge either of them has faced, especially as Princeton discovers who’s really in his corner…" ~ from KU.

MY THOUGHTS:
I loved Princeton. He was such a sweetheart and he loved him some Bella, okayy. "He falls first" does if for me every time!

I appreciate how passionate and determined Bella was. She grew to know her worth and she stood on that even when Princeton was trippn.

Ngl I almost dnf'd this book, about 60% of the way through, because everybody was getting on my nerves. At first I was frustrated with Bella, and then she became the only person I wasn't mad at (besides Gina, I loved Gina's silly self😂).

All in all, I recommend.

I saw @bookswithnani post about this a few weeks ago. The collage of photos and the review convinced me to give it a try.

I enjoyed this book. It was cute, funny, and sexy. I adored Maddie and I definitely related to some of her struggles. Most of all I love the way Axel loved Maddie.

While I liked the book overall I was not feeling that third act breakup/conflict at all. It felt a little drawn out just for them to make up so quickly...

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.75/ 5 Stars

P.s.
I'm not a huge fan of the whole "Daddy/Baby" thang but I wasn't deterred by it in this book. If that something you can't stand, don't read this book. But, if you love it, definitely add this to your tbr ;).

Happy Friday, everyone!

This month was a pretty good reading month and I'm can already tell I'm about to have a book hangover from it. I might have to take a break from reading for a week 🙃.
