The world fears a woman
who refuses to stay within the mold of confomity
that is uncomfortably comfortable
for them.

She isn’t “reinventing” herself;
she is shedding the layers of conformity one by one, piece by piece,
Allowing herself to remember.
Remember who she is
What she loves
The rhythm of her body
The frequency of her voice.

To some, a select few, she inspires.
They see hope
And freedom
And joy.
They find her happier
Sexier, sweeter
And spicier
In her wisdom attained in the
Undoing.

But far more fear her.
Despise her
Judge her
Speak falsely and horribly
Of her
Make lies up about her
And attempt to
Steal from her.

Oddly, it’s mostly the men
That do these things.

Her self rebellion shows them
where they self abandon
Her intimate words shows them
their lack of any intimacy at all
Her adoration and acceptance of her body
is a mirror for the disdain of their own
Her easy magnetism a glaring reminder
of the way they force
recognition and love.

She refuses to conform.

They try to drag her back into
The box they shove themselves in
“Crabs in a barrel”
Someone once said
And it’s true of these men.

The fallacy is that
the oppression of women
exists
When it’s really the self-imposed
oppression of men who
resist
and refuse to shed and heal
and undo,
as she has.

They run and point
Laugh and glare
Bait her to take her
But what they don’t see is
It never works because
You cannot take
What was never yours.

What’s hers is hers;
Its not her fault you choose
to have nothing of your own.

The mediocrity they accept
Against her freedom feels like
A threat because
The world fears a woman
who refuses to stay within the mold of confomity
that is uncomfortably comfortable
for them.
