At work I was asked, “If you could be any age in life what it would be and why?” Without hesitation my answer was, I like where I currently am in life. 33 has been SO good to me! When I say I’m happy, I’m HAPPY! Summer ‘16 had held the top spot until I meet Summer ‘24! I haven’t spent this much time at home in years. I spent the last two months having sleepovers with my Best Friends, ticking off restaurants from my list, boating, enjoying my niece before she went away for college, hanging out with my parents, linked with my cousins, celebrated my mom’s birthday and my grandmother’s 95! Doing @thegourmetspork Pop Ups, trying new coffee shops, eating a ridiculous amount of aguachilies, taking De’Oge on adventures, getting him a sister (her name is Free Throw🏀🐶). I got to love on my sisters @nikdotcee and @ninaboots babies, I celebrated three of my Leo sisters in person, I spent Nina’s birthday WITH HER for the first time in over a decade, we had an EPIC Vegas trip (hey Twisted T🫶🏽), I was showered in the love and supported of my tribe on multiple occasions, I was on my Bob the Builder doing projects around the house, I was reunited with two of my oldest friends @kiki_back29 and @amber_nicoleeey and meet their children, I spent time at the pool, I cooked with @moneewoods, man I could go on and on!!! Life Off the Internet Has Been Pretty Good✨✨✨ Actively making the choice to disconnect for the past three years and look inward has been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. That is not to say all of it has been great, because I’ve also experienced some of the worst times during this period. I’ve learned an Ivy League degree’s worth of lessons 😉 but I’ve also learned lessons about myself, friendship, love, heartbreak, imposter syndrome, mental health, lose, happiness, depression, entrepreneurship, and self care. I’ve made very intentional choices about where I focus my attention, spend my money, utilize my time, and share my love. While some lessons have been harder to internalize than others they’ve all led me to today. I’m a home owner, I bought myself a really cool car, I earned degree from Teachers College Columbia University (and now I’m on their payroll), I’ve traveled, I have leaned heavily on my faith, I love my family DEEP, I’m more intentional about how I show up for my tribe (while I know there’s times I could be more consistent and come out of my cocoon more), I’ve had to apologize, I’ve had to make tough choices and accept hard truths, I have created and destroyed, I have had some amazing meals, I catered a corporate event, I’ve witnessed the cycle of life, I started therapy, I try going “outside” but I really like inside (I’m trying), I have a garden (and it makes me feel very in touch with my ancestors), I’m a dog mom (His name is De’Oge; D-O-G), I’ve cried (a lot), and I’ve experienced immense joy. Some days I’m at rock bottom and others I’m on cloud 9, but such is life. While lots has changed, what’s important remains constant. Living life off the internet has made me my biggest fan; on both my best and worst days. Dear Jana, you are the shit! **Double Taps** I hope you are all well and living your best authentic lives!
