‘DYSTOPIAN’ explores themes of isolation, loss and longing for excess and drama. Creatively conceived in a time where I saw no hope after having my life come to a full stop in a severe lockdown after graduating university, this collection takes on maturer themes and shapes and is almost devoid of colour.
Elegance is challenged in reinterpreting the pinstripe through fringe, feathers, synthetic hair and animal print.
The entire collection is heavily influenced by evening -wear of the 1910s and 1920s, paying homage to some of my heroes such as Mariano Fortuny and the Boué Sours.
Finally, the prints explore a story of excess and seduction.
A trip to the strip club narrates the collection, opening with a dollar-bill printed dress acting as our stack of cash and concluding in the Busty Bride, from pole to altar.
