When I was pregnant I was so anxious that as a mom I would lose sight of myself (because that’s what the world often tells you). I could not have been more wrong. As a mother I am more of myself; life is much more full. How could it not be when you say “yes” to what the Lord is asking of you? Yes, motherhood requires sacrifice, as all love does. And yes, through sacrificial love the Lord draws us deeper into His Most Sacred Heart.

“This is my body, which will be given up for you”. The words that the Lord spoke during the last supper, the words that are proclaimed at every Mass, and the words I am reminded of in all the ways my body has nurtured this life during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

My heart aches because I just can’t adequately put into words what being a mom means to me! Truly, it is just the greatest and wildest adventure. But those are some of my reflections on my second Mother’s Day.

Happy Mother’s Day to all women in any stage of motherhood! You are doing good work!

@joechasee wanna go on another cruise?

We got a bunch of film cameras developed and our honeymoon photos were on a couple of them! Looking back on that season of such happiness about the present and excitement about our future is so fun. I am reminded how I honestly am more in love with Joe now than I was in these pictures. I didn’t think that was possible, but I just didn’t know how good it would get! Life is so much more full, and it hasn’t even been 2 years yet. I’m just really honored to be God’s daughter, Joe’s wife, and Gemma’s mom!
