WE’RE BACK. @LitAtlanta: Books, Booze & Beats, ATL’s 1st + only literary karaoke event, returns to Monday Night Garage on Thurs., 8/13/26. 🤘🏾Launched in 2015, Lit turned the idea of book clubs into a public party, where people who love literature read live, uncensored excerpts of books they love to a crowd of amazing people, over beats, with drinks. The music never stops; it simply shifts to instrumentals and music beds (think John Coltrane, Madlib, Miles Davis, Flying Lotus…) when people are reading over the mic.Entry to Lit is free, however we ask all guests to bring a new or gently used book you don’t mind donating as your cover fee. Some amazing ATLiens are already signed up to read (stay tuned for details) but there’s still room for a few folks to participate in the live reading. But act soon — it’s 1st-come, 1st-served. 📖🧊☕🫐 Some days, the most productive thing I can do is slow down.Today, that meant taking a moment to regulate my nervous system by settling into my favorite café, Common Ground, with When Forty Bloom by @jacinta.howard , an iced coffee beaded with condensation, and a warm blackberry muffin.The gentle hum of conversations, the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the quiet rhythm of turning pages reminded me that healing doesn’t always happen in big, life-changing moments. Sometimes it happens in the soft pauses we intentionally create for ourselves.I’ve learned to be gentler with myself. To choose rest before burnout. Wine With Writers Baltimore at The Last Resort Artist Retreat was everything we hoped it would be: sold out, full of intention, and the kind of weekend that reminded us why we do this.Thank you to every single person who showed up for Black stories, Black women, books, wine, and real conversation. You helped make this weekend feel thoughtful, joyful, and necessary in all the ways we imagined.We’re still taking it all in, but one thing is clear: this was a success because of everyone who came through. Today is the last day to pre-order my indie titles for Wine With Writers. That’s basically my entire catalog except When Forty Blooms, which you’ll be able to grab from our partner book store, Red Emma’s until June 15th.Wine With Writers will take place at The Last Resort Artist Retreat on June 26-27. We’ve held events in DC, Philly and Atlanta twice. This is the first time the event has spanned two days, which of course means more planning. But it also means more experiences and time to connect with each other. We want y’all to have conversations, mingle, drink wine, and just vibe with books and your favorite authors. Think my word for my personal new year will be grateful. Thank you to everyone who stopped by my table and bought books, or just said something nice about them. Y’all are so encouraging, and I don’t take your support for granted. Shout out to all the authors & narrators I got to see for the first time in a while, and to niaforrester for being the homie and taking pics I could steal lol. Thanks to @alyxmonroe (and Leah) helping me set up my table on Sunday & for being awesome. Black Romance Book Fest is paaaaaaaacked, y’all! Lovely to see all of these Black women here celebrating this genre and themselves. In no other genre are Black women loved, celebrated, respected, and treasured the way they are in #blackromance. I’m currently sold out of Blind Expectations (shout out to @alyxmonroe), The Love Always Series, and have only a few copies left of The Night Before. I don’t have any more copies of When Forty Blooms but you can get it at the Honey Blossom Press table.
