It is with a thankful and full heart that we have said goodbye to one of the kindest and strongest people I have ever known! My mother Betty Parker. She is at peace now. I love you with all of my heart, Mom.

Stumbled across the most adorable sight today in the pouring rain. Newly hatched baby snapping turtles emerging from their nest! The yawn is the sweetest thing! 🐢

A little something to help us be better neighbours. 🐾💚

I recently received these door hangers from The Fur-Bearers, with simple tips for peacefully coexisting with the wildlife that shares our communities.

I have some extras to share! If you’re local and would like one, just send me a message. You can also order your own directly through The Fur-Bearers.

Coexistence doesn’t have to mean getting everything perfect. Sometimes it’s simply learning a new behaviour, changing a small habit, and understanding how our choices affect the wild neighbours around us.

If you’d like to learn more—or unlearn some old myths and behaviours—feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to share what I’ve learned along the way. 💚

Nature and our wild neighbours deserve better from humans. 🌿🐾

Thank you @furbearers for sending me these hang and share! I truly appreciate the work you do! 🫶🏼

In other news 📰! We saw yet another coyote on our walk and again, nothing happened. Shocking, I know. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Coyotes belong here, like all wildlife. Co-existence, understanding and education is key. The only stories that get shared and go viral are the incredibly rare are the ones about interactions (caused by human behaviour or lack there of ) that create fear or have a wow factor.

Let’s change the story line! Coexist with coyotes, and other wild neighbours and if you have fear or feel confused, take time to learn more.

Because I love coyotes…

People often ask me why I spend so much time photographing them, talking about them, defending them, and learning about them.

It’s because once you truly get to know them, it’s impossible not to care.

Because I love coyotes…

• I choose education over fear.
• I choose science over myths.
• I choose ethical photography over “getting the shot.”
• I choose patience and respect.
• I choose to keep a respectful distance so they can simply be wild.

Because I love coyotes…

I’ll never use rat poison, knowing it doesn’t stop with rodents. It moves through the food web, poisoning the very wildlife I care so deeply about.

I’ll continue learning. The more I learn, the more respect I have for them.

I’ll continue sharing science, even when it challenges long-held beliefs.

I believe coyotes have just as much right to exist on this planet as we do.

They deserve the chance to raise their families without unnecessary human interference. They form long-term pair bonds, work together to raise their pups, teach them how to survive, play together, communicate, grieve losses, and care for one another.

The more we study them, the more we discover that many of the behaviours we cherish in our own dogs—playfulness, curiosity, affection, cooperation, intelligence, and strong family bonds—exist in coyotes too. They are wild animals, not pets, but they are far more like our dogs than many people realize.

Because I love coyotes…

I’ll never support killing them for sport.

I’ll never be comfortable calling them “vermin” or “pests.”

To me, they’re neither.

They’re intelligent, resilient, sentient wildlife trying to survive in a world we’ve dramatically changed.

Photography has changed me.

It has taught me that every image is an opportunity—not just to show an animal’s beauty, but to help someone see it differently.

If one person walks away with a little more understanding and a little less fear, then every sunrise, every mosquito bite, every hour spent quietly waiting has been worth it.

Because I love coyotes.

And I always will. 🐺🫶🏼

Fear is a very powerful tool, especially when it is deployed upon us with lack of evidence based knowledge and education!

These bait boxes are outside of a strip mall in London ON. They are filled with bait containing rodenticides that “slowly” kill rats and mice, as well as squirrels, skunks and raccoons. Additionally, they can kill you dogs and cats, foxes, coyotes, owls, hawks and eagles when they eat the rats that are essentially “walking bait boxes”.

Rat poison does not discriminate. Please take the time to do a little bit of learning and speak up when you see these placed EVERYWHERE in and around the city.

Have a look at the adorable last image of beautiful local fox kit. Foxes den in and around residential areas and the parents eat a wide variety of small animals including, rabbits, squirrels, birds and mice. The parents are now feeding the kits the same diet. The chances of this kit eating mice and rats that are full of rodenticides is very high because of situations like the first image.

I recommend checking out @rodenticidefreeontario and @rodenticidefreebc to learn more.

Special thank you to @artj2010 for his beautiful image of a local fox kit and for collaborating on me with the post. Thanks to @jack.bowes for the bait box images.
