Just under one year ago after my first feature gig working as a Set PA, LICE, I became an apprentice with the @ontariodgc. One week in my third ADs Patryk and Leo took a chance on the brand new kid and before I knew it, agreeing to work a single week turned into 8 months on an incredible first television show!

Brilliant Minds was truly a marathon. I got to work under some amazing ADs, crew and creatives. It was the ultimate deep-end learning experience and I will never forget the countless hours spent on set, sweltering heat to freezing cold, and what felt like every possible idea of a location that could be dreamed up. I was able to get some rest when we wrapped in March and I am back in the marathon for another show ;)

Anyways, the season finale of Brilliant Minds airs TONIGHT on @nbc @city_tv at 8:00pm ET. Enjoy, the cast and crew poured so much love into what they did to bring you this show!

Terry Wilson is a 70-year-old lifelong resident of Meadowvale Village, Ontario’s first heritage district. As development looms and begins to destroy Terry’s favourite place in the world, he recreates pieces of history in his backyard, crafting an oasis where it feels like nothing has changed. A beautiful tribute to his childhood, his mother, and his town, Terry passionately fights to preserve history in a world that’s too anxious for change.

🪳WRAP ON LICE!🪳

I’m a bit late to the party but I wanted to share the pleasure I had of getting my first full-run assistant direction department credit with the best crew, best cast, and best show I could’ve hoped for.

This project was a thrill to work on, and I cannot wait to see the final product. Shoutout to @jonnygrayactor for teaching me so much on the fly and thank you to Gary Goldman, our legend of a 1st, @mrkevinconnolly, @dominicewenson and all the producers for putting on a great time.

Catch you at EndZone! See you at the movies!

I am proud to share that my photo of the Gap of Dunloe from Purple Mountain (2024) pictured at the front of this slide has been selected for the 2025 Capture Oakville Awards Gala May 23, 2025, 7:00pm at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre. The photo will continue to hang in their exhibit space for several weeks after the event.

Last summer I had the amazing opportunity to travel solo in Ireland for the first time. Though I had been back home before, it was an incredible experience reconnecting with my roots and exploring the landscape. Climbing multiple summits including Ireland’s tallest, Carrauntoohil. I hope to return truly very soon. ☘️

2025 has come in hot for Terry’s Little Village!

We started off the year screening at the @reelfilmfest in Fernie, BC in late January. While we were not able to attend we hope their audience enjoyed our film. Just last week we screened at the @dtdocfest and the @doorcountyfilmfest in Wisconsin. We were nominated for Best Local Short 🏆 in Belleville! Thank you to the DocFest programming team for allowing us to screen in front of the @moviemanfilm and for hosting an engaging Q&A with the audience afterward.

You can catch Terry’s Little Village at ‼️FOUR FESTIVALS‼️ across the U.S. and Canada on the weekend of April 5th. We are honoured to have been selected for the National Film Festival for Talented Youth @nfftyfilm and will be heading down to Seattle. In the same weekend we will be screening at the @junctionnorthff in Sudbury where we are nominated for a Jury Award 🏆, the Northeast Pennsylvania Film Festival where we are nominated for Best Short Documentary 🏆 and we will also screen at the @biffbloom in Indiana. Thank you to all the programming teams for supporting our project and giving us an opportunity to showcase Terry to their audiences.

We have so much more planned for 2025 (including a big announcement soon) so stay tuned. Thank you for following along on our journey! 😁 taken in North America by @jack_kukolic

Here’s a little story about these photos (shot on my circa 1900s @kodak No. 2 Brownie and No. 3 Folding Brownie)

I’ve been a photographer for almost seven years, and one thing that never stuck was film photography. As a new photographer in this digital age, I guess I didn’t see the appeal. As I continued to develop my skill set and perform more corporate and client-commissioned work, I felt like I had lost the “art” side of photography. Yes, there is art in all those projects I do, but I didn’t have as much appreciation for it. So I thought, why not start shooting film?

I have lots of friends who shoot 35mm, and they enjoy it. Instead, I decided find the most difficult to use cameras I could easily acquire. These two cameras shoot 116 and 124 format films respectively, neither of which are available today. Everything you see was shot on 120 format film converted to fit each camera with adapters. For each roll of 120 film I shoot, I get 5, maybe 6 photos if I’m lucky, producing beautiful wide negatives.

This has become a new hobby for me, and I am pleased to share some of the images as I’ve learned and progressed with these last few rolls. They were shot on a variety of films, primarily Kodak Gold 200, but also HP5 400 and Portra 400. The majority of these were shot on the No. 2 Brownie, as I was waiting on some parts for the No. 3. This was a bit of a challenge as it has a fixed shutter speed of ~1/45, fixed aperture at ~f/16, and no adjustable focus. Nuclear amounts of light are required to make it work. Fortunately, I was able to exceed my expectations of these cameras. For such old technology, they absolutely stand the test of time.

It is crazy to think about how long these cameras have been around, and what they may have captured before me. If you need some photos done on 123-year-old camera equipment, let me know! 😆 taken in Oakville, Ontario by @jack_kukolic
