Say hello to the new sled! With full 360° walk-around fishability, a cuddy cabin, and a 250+ mile range, this boat is truly the ultimate SoCal platform. She comes on a custom long tongue duel axle trailer by @westcoasttrailers - perfect for beach launch missions in Baja.

She’s gonna spend the remainder of the winter in the barn to undergo some retrofitting, starting with some cosmetic glass work, rod holder install, trim tabs, and a new bait system with a 2-3 scoop capacity. Once installed, I’d like to put a trolling motor with GPS/spotlock capabilities on the bow for rockfish, halibut, AND BASS (Duh).

That’s phase 1.

Phase 2 will be an Airmar thru-hull, LSM anchor drum, and a radar arch/pedestal. Phase 3 will be flush mounted transom underwater lights, deck/courtesy lights, and reupholstery. From there, we’ll be in pretty great shape.

With 2024 closing down we are approaching a DECADE of the SoCal bluefin cycle. Whether they stay forever or I never see them again in my lifetime, I’m ready to cycle back into traditional Southern California island fishing. I’m building this boat out to be a structure-fishing battle wagon with easy outer banks capability. Yellows and bass at the islands, seabass on the coast, tuna out west, and even a few local marlin in the fall. Sprinkle that with a few missions south of the border and that’s the gameplan. That’s the dream!

I have so many people supporting me in this life and I couldn’t do this alone. My wife, my family, my friends, and a little bit of elbow grease has made this dream a reality and for that I am eternally grateful. Can’t wait to see what this little beauty kicks out! See you this spring!

Sunshine, shore break, and biting fish with my soulmate. This is what dream are made of, folks!

When you get below Baja, everything intensifies. Nature’s colors are more vivid, the weather is more dynamic, and the species you encounter seems to expand ten-fold both on land and on the water.

If you’re interested in some of the most heart pumping, adrenaline dumping, combat-style fishing you can experience, give Capt. Lora @fortunasportfishing a call. Kitty took her last ride into the sunset. She was there through some of the hardest times of my life. She was the first animal I had that “special” connection with. If you’ve experienced that firsthand, you understand the meaning of it. Although I’m not going to receive anymore gopher and bird carcasses or “gifts” as we call them, I’m so grateful for the time we had together. Such a sick animal! I love you forever, #Kiggy.
