Marathon PBs are hard to come by so I’m stoked to run 2:38 and run a 3min PB

My last few races haven’t gone to plan. I missed my PB by just one second in Chicago, and Osaka fell apart halfway through when I vomitted, so to finally come away with a new personal best feels incredibly rewarding.

I was confident I’d run a PB this year because I knew I was in the best shape of my life. Getting sick two weeks before the race wasn’t ideal, but by race week I felt healthy again. Then, two days before the marathon, I started feeling unwell all over again. I ignored it and convinced myself I was fine, even though deep down I wasn’t sure how the race would unfold.

That’s what makes the marathon so special. There are so many variables, and so much can go wrong. To still come away with a PB despite everything gives me a lot of confidence.

I genuinely feel like, healthy, I have so much more to give and that excites me.

Now it’s time to get this virus out of my system, recover properly, and put all my focus into @berlinmarathon in September 🥳 taken in Gold Coast, Queensland by @jackahearn_

Chicago marathons is today! My favourite finish line photo ever from last year!

I may not have raced my best, but Chicago is the best crowd I’ve ever raced at! So loud and fun

And the medics are super nice too lol 😂 taken in Chicago,U.S.A by @jackahearn_

Melbourne, Perth, Chicago, Zagreb marathon just to name a few for tomorrow!

So many great races happening! Some will run PBs, while others will have tough days. That’s just part of running.

The real winners are the ones who make it to the start line and give it everything they’ve got!

Can’t wait to track all my friends and athletes racing around the world! ❤️ by @jackahearn_
