I feel so lucky to get to create images for the bad-ass women of @mavenslc. They are talented, strong, beautiful, fierce, funny, smart, kind... They are mavens in every way and I'm grateful to know them. If you're anywhere near Salt Lake City and you have yet to experience their co-working space @mavencreate, or their wide range of Pilates classes at @mavenstrong taught by the best of the best, or visited Maven District to shop at unique, local, women-owned businesses, then do yourself a favor and hustle on over. But that's just scratching the surface of what this dynamic group of dreamers and doers is involved with every day in our community. Get out there and join the mavens, Maven! taken in Maven Create by @jackelinslack

Have I mentioned I love shooting at The Great Salt Lake at sunset? The bugs can be a little pesky at times, but we got lucky last week. Once again I got to photograph a young woman I've known since she was in elementary school, and it's always a little bittersweet seeing these nuggets grow up. Thank you, @jholmberg5 for trusting he with Allison's senior photos - she is smart, beautiful and lovely all around, and I can't wait to see where she goes!

In case any photo nerds are interested, I used a Godox AD 400 Pro positioned at camera left, giving me the ability to expose the subject perfectly while retaining detail in the background. Using lights at sunset is a complete game changer.

Cheers to all the beautiful mommas out there. I hope you got to do a little chillin', a little sippin' and a whole lot of playin' on your special day. As for me, I got to spend time with the ones I love, followed by lots and lots of pickleball, sushi dinner and a yuzu margarita that looked a lot like this one 😍 #mothersday2023

The weekend's officially here my friends! Here's a little something to get you in the mood for something smokey, caramel-y, oakey and delicious. You can find this one at Carmine's Italian Restaurant. I don't imbibe while on assignment, but I was sure tempted by this one! taken in Salt Lake City, Utah by @jackelinslack

It's Day 5, the last day of the #getcolorfulchallenge by @twolovesstudio. Today I'm keeping it super simple. One of the concepts that Rachel emphasizes in her color theory videos is color repetition. Here we have three shades of blue - the lighter blue of the background, the medium blue of the bowl and the very dark blue of the blueberries themselves. Repeating the colors avoids distraction and brings the viewer's attention to the main subject. I love shooting macro shots of blueberries and any fruit or veg with interesting texture. Thanks for following along on this photo challenge. It's been so much fun and I've really enjoyed taking the time to really stop and think about what I want to create and how to break out of my rut (we all get there, don't we?). I challenge you to find a way to play and hone your craft, whatever it may be.
