I’m finally putting my first short film, Unlawful Combatant, out online publicly. It’s far from perfect, but I’m really proud of the performers and the rest of the creative team for making a film that looks so good with few resources.

Now feels like an appropriate time to share this because I think the era and mindset I was trying to depict is coming to an end. Over the last year, our government has supported a brazen act of ethnic cleansing, and officials have not been trying very hard to sugarcoat it. Now, after a terrible election defeat, it seems like the lesson the democrats are most likely to take is “stop saying Latinx” instead of any deeper examination of the party’s flaws.

For a long time I didn’t want to put this film out because I was worried about it being misinterpreted, but if you read this, hopefully my point is clear.

Big thank you to the leads @bridgeofstuart and @adamelshark

Keep an eye out for Bridge’s debut feature A Fantastic Relationship

I will forever owe Adam because the truth is, if you want to fake torture someone in a film, you will end up micro-torturing them in some way.

The rest of the cast is amazing too, please hire them: @dustintaylorhahn @hannahelder4ever @nicanrobinson @willrmadden @joeyheyworth

And the crew helped make a movie that looks so much better than my writing and directing skills deserved:

Happy to share that The Cave will have its next screening at Eastern Oregon Film Festival in La Grande! We are really rockin it on the ID/OR border region.

I believe there will be a virtual component to the festival so you can watch from home if you haven’t had a chance to see the film yet.

Thanks for the selection @eofilmfest ! taken in La Grande, Oregon by @jackfatheree

My short film The Cave is premiering at Filmfort Festival in 2 weeks! I’m excited to be able to attend the festival with a bunch of cast and crew. This will be the first time I’ve been able to attend the premiere of one of my films and see it with an audience. I’m looking forward to audience reactions to this one.

Here are some images with our beautiful final color courtesy of @gabe_jl_sanchez

Thank you to everyone on the crew, they are all excellent at what they do and we really had a great time on set. I wish I could work with all the same people over and over again.

This past weekend I directed my second short, The Cave, with an incredible cast & crew. If you want to get updates about the film you can check out @the_cave_film. Either way, I’ll soon be begging for money so block me now or you’ve given implied consent for my marketing spam.

Here are some pics & vids from the set; any questions about content will be referred to my legal team. taken in Burbank, California by @jackfatheree
