This week, UCSA and UCGPC sent a letter urging our California Congressional delegation to cosponsor two critical Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions to codify protections for international students across the country facing uncertainty with a proposed rule from DHS limiting duration of status. Read the full letter at bit.ly/ucsagpcCRAletter or the QR code on the last slide!

We cannot put a time limit on every students’ education, especially when some degree programs can average 5-7+ years depending on the level or field. On behalf of over 34,000 international students across the UC, we will continue to advocate for their equitable academic success. Huge shoutout to our International Student Affairs Officer, ASUC Senator Ding & UCLA GSA EVP Feng for their work on this effort. #standwithstudents #educationequity 🗣️🙌🔊 taken in Washington D. Today, in my capacity as @uclagsa External Vice President representing @uclagradschool and professional students, I was honored and proud to stand in full solidarity alongside survivors, students, and advocates at the UCLA Walkout & Rally as part of the national mobilization to #StopSexualViolence.

As a graduate student, student leader, and survivor myself, I stand unapologetically, unequivocally, and wholeheartedly with every Jane Doe. Our voices will not be silenced. Our experiences will not be dismissed. Our dignity is not up for debate.

We are all Jane Doe. We stand with survivors. We believe survivors. We will not be silent or silenced.

From Cornell to UCLA and across the country, rape culture has no place on our college campuses, in our communities, or anywhere in our society. No survivor should ever be silenced, intimidated, discredited, or forced to carry the burden of someone else’s violence. The burden belongs to the perpetrators. The responsibility belongs to the institutions that enable them. And the fight for justice belongs to all of us.

From the frat house to the White House and the U.S. Supreme Court, rapists must go. No position, no title, and no institution should place anyone above accountability. Enough is enough.

Thank you to @uclapresident, @uclaivp, @bruindems, and @feminist.gen for your leadership in organizing today’s @UCLA #StopSexualViolence Walkout & Rally and creating this safe, inclusive and powerful space for all of us.

As External Vice President, I will continue to pursue every avenue possible and use the responsibility entrusted to my Office to confront sexual violence, challenge the systems that enable it, and fight for policies and resources that put survivors first. We will demand stronger protections, meaningful accountability, and a campus culture where survivors are heard, believed, and supported.

We will not look away. We will not back down. We will not stop fighting until every survivor can seek justice without fear, and every perpetrator is held accountable to the fullest extent of law. taken in University of California, Los Angeles by @ucstudents

On Wednesday, September 30, I had the honor of representing @uclagsa at Los Angeles City Hall as @mayorofla Karen Bass signed an ordinance codifying key components of Executive Directive 17 into City law.

I was proud to join local elected officials, public leaders, and community advocates, including Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, Councilmember Curren Price, LAUSD Superintendent Andrés E. Chait, Jocelyn Duarte of SALEF, and Angelica Salas of CHIRLA, for this important moment for Los Angeles.

The ordinance takes concrete steps to ensure that City property and resources are not used to facilitate federal immigration enforcement. It requires signage at City-owned lots and open-space areas prohibiting their use for immigration enforcement staging, processing, or operations; strengthens physical security at City facilities to restrict unauthorized access to non-public areas; and increases transparency around data-sharing agreements between City contractors and federal immigration agencies.

This matters to UCLA.

Thousands of Bruins live, work, study, and commute throughout the City of Los Angeles. For our graduate and professional student constituents, the ability to move through our city, access our communities, and participate fully in civic life with dignity and without fear is an important part of student safety and well-being.

On behalf of @uclagradschool and professional student constituents, I expressed our gratitude to Mayor Bass and the Los Angeles City Council for their partnership and leadership and for pursuing lawful avenues to protect Angelenos and ensure that City resources are not used to facilitate federal immigration enforcement actions.

Los Angeles is, and will remain, a city shaped by immigrants and generations of immigrant communities. As Bruins and Angelenos, we have a shared responsibility to uphold the dignity, safety, and fundamental rights of our neighbors.

I look forward to continuing to represent UCLA Grad Bruins at Los Angeles City Hall, strengthening our partnership with the City, and elevating the voices and priorities of our graduate and professional student community. taken in Los Angeles City Hall by @ucstudents

From campus outreach to legislative advocacy, we’re continuing to make our voices heard! 📢

Yesterday, BPS joined @saveuclachildcare and @uclafaculty in distributing flyers across campus to raise awareness about the planned closure of UCLA’s Early Care and Education centers.

Later that day, our undergraduate, graduate student, and faculty representatives from the coalition met with Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur to represent our community impacted by the planned closures, share our concerns and needs, and discuss the future of childcare at UCLA.

We want to give a special thanks to @uclagsa @ucgpc @jackfeng_evp for facilitating the meeting and helping bring us together!

Thank you as well to Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur (@asmrickchavezzbur) and his team for taking the time to meet with us and hear our stories.

We’re grateful to everyone who continues to organize, advocate, and stand alongside us! 💙💛

UCLA Graduate Student Body @uclagsa External Vice President Jack Feng Urged UC Regents to Defend International Students’ Full Access to Curricular Practical Training Authorizations at the September 2026 UC Regents Meeting:

“Good morning, Regents.

My name is Jack Feng, serving as UCLA Graduate Student Body External Vice President.

At the last Regents meeting, when I accepted the UC President’s Award, I shared how my journey in the U.S. as an international first-generation college graduate has been shaped by the promise of America.

Since then, there have been significant federal policy changes affecting international students’ access to education and training, and undermining that promise.

Recently, UCLA and other UC campuses have complied with ICE, indefinitely suspending certain Curricular Practical Training authorizations, the very program that allowed me, as an undergraduate, to pursue an unpaid, part-time HIV internship for course credit at a local health department.

That experience ultimately led me to pursue a PhD in Epidemiology at UCLA today.

I understand the institutional caution, especially when the federal government has threatened UC’s ability to enroll international students. But these policies harm beyond our students; they also undermine UC’s research enterprise, workforce development, and the broader U.S. economy.

The psychological toll of immigration crackdowns on our international students is also real. We are chronically exhausted and terrorized not knowing what might happen to our futures.

I urge the Regents to continue proactively working with our Congressional leaders to reverse these harmful policies, and to support litigation efforts in court, just as UC has done before!

And finally, to everyone eligible to vote: please do so. Because public sentiment matters.

Thank you.” taken in University of California, Los Angeles by @ucstudents

On August 13, 2026, UCLA announced the closure of its Early Care and Education Program (ECE) and the end of the lease supporting the University Parents Nursery School (UPNS). These programs together serve more than 300 families with young children.

We're calling on the community to help us Save UCLA Childcare. Sign up to give public comment at the September 14-16 UC Regents Meeting. Let's work together to pause the closure and ensure families are supported.

Our Key Message:

We call on Chancellor Julio Frenk to immediately pause the closures, engage meaningfully with affected families and employees, and commit to investing in and preserving childcare capacity at UCLA.

UCLA should not respond to a budget crisis by eliminating essential infrastructure for the people who teach its students, conduct its research, care for its patients, and keep the university running.

Our first in-person monthly Board Meeting of the 2026–27 academic year is officially in the books! To advance this work, we also established our AY 2026–27 Special Committees:

Ten UC campus undergraduate and graduate student body presidents and external vice presidents, alongside @ucstudents and @ucgpc appointed executive officers, are united and standing arm-in-arm to elevate our shared priorities, values, and aspirations on behalf of more than 300,000 @uofcalifornia students at the campus, systemwide, local, state, and federal levels.

On August 20–21 in Oakland, @uclagsa @uclagradschool Student Body External Vice President Jack Feng participated in the UC Student Leadership Summit hosted by the UC Office of the President.

Throughout the summit, EVP Feng connected with fellow student leaders from across all ten UC campuses and engaged directly with UC administrative leadership through plenary and breakout sessions focused on the policies and challenges shaping the future of our students and public higher education.

Representing UCLA graduate and professional students, EVP Feng elevated priorities including financial aid and affordability; protections for undocumented, immigrant, and international students; policing accountability and community safety; time, place, and manner policies; federal and state investments in the University of California; research funding; basic needs; and more.

Across ten campuses, our students may face different challenges and our student leaders may engage in various styles, but we are united by the same sentiment that our student constituents deserve the very best from all of us. We are locking arms in our unwavering commitment to ensuring that student voices are heard and that the future of the University of California is shaped with students, not simply for students.

Fiat Lux & Go Bruins! 🐻💙💛

Today, at the @westsideyd Forth Annual Westie Award event in West Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to connect with Congresswoman (CA-37) @rep_kamlagerdove’s staff and speak briefly with the Congresswoman herself on behalf of @uclagsa and @uclagradschool student constituents.

I thanked Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove for her continued leadership in standing up against the unchecked, unhinged, and unlawful actions of this administration, including rogue ICE enforcement actions that have terrorized immigrant, undocumented, and international members of our @ucla community.

I also thanked her for her leadership in introducing articles of impeachment against the Director of the Office of Management and Budget over the politically motivated censorship and cancellation of federal grants that have harmed our @uofcalifornia research community.

Our Bruin community deserves elected leaders who are willing to stand up and fight back against the federal executive overreach and abuses of power. We cannot—and will not—stand by as this administration targets our vulnerable students, higher education, academic freedom, and research funding.

I look forward to continuing to lock arms with Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove and her team to demand oversight, accountability, and justice. Together, we will hold this administration accountable and keep fighting and delivering for our Bruin community. taken in Los Angeles, California by @ucstudents
