USF Juniors Debut 🏎️💨

Mid-Ohio started off rough in the first test. I was 14 seconds off at the start but I kept building and by the end of the session I had already brought it down to about 3 seconds off. I just focused on getting comfortable and figuring the car out.

Second test session I kept improving. Nothing special, just steady laps and learning the track more every run. I kept chipping away at the time and started to feel a lot more confident in the car.

First practice the next day I made another step forward. I kept finding time every run and got it down to 1.1 seconds off the leader. That was the first time I felt like I was actually in the mix.

Qualifying was the biggest step. I put together a clean run and got it to within 0.7 of the leaders. That showed the pace was there when I actually put it all together.

Race 1 I was right in the pack and running well and looking like a P10 fight, but I had an incident with my teammate and it ended in a DNF. Still felt like I had the pace the whole race and I belonged there.

Race 2 I started P16 and worked forward the whole race. Just kept it clean and made passes when I could and finished P13. Overall it was a solid weekend of learning and progress and I ended up only about five tenths off the leaders which shows the speed is there and I just need to keep putting it together.

This weekend at Road Atlanta showed strong progress and momentum for us. I improved pace every session and continued getting faster with each practice, building confidence and consistency on track. Unfortunately, during the final practice before qualifying, a brake explosion caused significant damage to the wheel, brake caliper, and front suspension, forcing us to retire from the weekend early. While it wasn’t the ending we wanted, the speed and development throughout the event were very encouraging, and we’re taking the positives forward into the next race.
