Summer has a funny way of making time collapse. One minute I’m a little, precocious girl on Chicago’s South Side, chasing backyard barbecues, music in the park, and sunsets at the Lake, and the next I’m a married, wonderfully complicated grown woman packing for NYC, Miami, and Martha’s Vineyard. When one of your mains asks you to travel to Paris for a birthday celebration titled Le French 55, the only answer is #sayless ... 🇫🇷 🖐🏾🖐🏾 Everything about @iamyetta is fabulous, from her heart to her style. Once you enter her orbit, she loves you with her entire soul, always answers the call, and then prays for you like one of the saints. I would have taken one of those crazy space trips for her if she asked, and I'm claustrophobic! 🚀 😘

Now babbbby, a man from the states sweetly asked her one late Paris night, "So what birthday are you celebrating. She answered." His immediate response, #blackdontcrack . Proselytize to the people! 🔥

5 days in Paris with 8 impossibly chic, gorgeous and melanin rich black women. From the Paris Fleas to the French Open. The city of lights felt US. It was mesmerized by our energy. Drawn to our unexplainable insouciance. If you've ever wondered what's #BlackGirlMagic ? It's this. Uncontainable joy that sparks mystery in every nook and cranny it touches. It's breathable life. An uprising that makes everyone within its rally cry lean closer, feel superhuman, and more safe and secure.

First time taking the #curlypixie for a twirl on the red carpet. I must say, the hair is easy (took me 3 mins), versatile (tonight is a slicked down Mohawk), and surprising (who knew a short haircut would get me this excited?!?!

Congratulations Breast Cancer Research Foundation @bcrfcure @playforpink on a fantastic turnout to underwrite necessary research. With you, we will find a cure for this insidious disease in our lifetime. Also, can't wait for Elton John! 🎀

One of my not-so-secret, yet very secret skills is that I serve as an auctioneer and on-stage fundraiser. I'm also a fundraising strategist for organizations having raised tens of millions of dollars for non-profit organizations across the country.

But on Friday, the work was personal. I've served on the board of @hsanyc for over a decade. Black and brown kids learning excellence through rigorous arts training. 10K kids touched per year. 100% of our Prep students are accepted to colleges and universities. Our team raised nearly 1.5 million dollars in one of the hardest fundraising environments in 20 years. Nobody is saving us, but us. by @jackieunfiltered_

I've contemplated a curly pixie cut for a while now as my hair has changed with hormones and 'tings. So I sat down with @dickeyrules Saturday in NYC, and Dickey worked his magic. I've had long hair most of my life, and I couldn't be more over-the-moon-excited about this style for this season and reason! I simply can't wait to play with bold makeup, outrageous accessories and fun clothes. Love you, Dickey! ✂️ 🍎 ✂️
