Happy @solidstatelogic release day, give a big warm welcome to Bus Comp Classic! 🎉

The legendary 651 centre section bus compressor returns, with a deliberately simple set of controls, focused on the core essentials… plus VCA Drive 👀 to push BCC from SuperAnalogue sonics, into the gritty saturation of an SL 4000 E.

Over on YouTube you can watch a short doc I put together on The History of the SSL Bus Comp, tracing the industry’s most famous mix bus compressor back to the beginning, and checking out some cool stories along the way that helped contribute to its widespread use.

In this post are some short extracts from the full piece, and a demo of my buddy @jackkennydrums getting absolutely squished by Bus Comp Classic - make sure to check out the full video on YouTube, in collaboration with my good friends at @makenoiseproaudio

Speaking of Make Noise… if you’d like to purchase a Bus Comp Classic, please make sure you grab yours from Make Noise Pro Audio!

Lastly, huge thanks and congratulations to all at SSL! You’re the best at what you do, and it’s always an absolute pleasure to work with you, and see the company’s next steps forward.

Rumour has it that I’m still trying to stand up from that chair after @kielder_marathon

Huge thank you to all the course marshalls and volunteers. And of course endless thanks to @indiaxtru for being the best supporter/snack supplier! Can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Been having a blast working on some new music in the studio these last few weeks 🥁

Most of this drum sound is from a ribbon mic running through a compressor pedal, a RAT distortion pedal, (which were gifted to me by @bennidumville) and an ART MR1 digital reverb unit I bought in a charity shop. All thanks to the @franklin_audio MP-10 🧡 new pedals coming this week! 👀🚴

I turned 36 at the weekend 🎈

Feeling very grateful for family, my health and for being able to play drums for a living - what a dream!

Here is a clip from a session last week - most of this drum sound is coming from the crotch mic which is running into my Ibanez Echo Shifter via the @franklin_audio MP-10. I then used the MP-10’s mic thru to blend the clean signal with the processed signal 🎙️ 🥁

“If you set a new 5k PB and don’t post about it, did it even happen?” Eliud Kipchoge

One of my goals for the year was to try and hit a sub 20 5k. I turn 36 this week so it seemed like a good week to give it a shot. I don’t use Strava and my garmin is private but I thought I would drop it here for some KUDOS. I have been enjoying the shorter speed work outs recently but marathon distance is calling again so I’m excited to drop the pace and up the mileage.

Running is the best thing in the world, go out and run for 1k, 1 mile or even 1 minute today. I guarantee you will feel better.

Swipe for an underwhelming video 👉

Had a blast catching up with some very good friends, and even managed to catch @thehellyoudick at the underworld! Thank you to @bennidumville for hosting me, sharing some miles, and letting me try out loads of pedals - studio space is looking and sounding awesome!
