One more plea on behalf of the beautiful, intelligent owls living peacefully in our western U.S. forests — hundreds of thousands of them! Both Northern spotted (NSO) and Barred owls will be killed by the “BOMS” owl-killing plan now in effect. Funded by taxpayers, it’s $1.3 billion for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service to shotgun wild forest owls , on behalf of their partner-in-wildlife-crimes, the timber industry.

BOMS isn’t about “saving” anyone; it’s a deceitful, cynical end-run around the Endangered Species Act which is supposed to prevent timber companies from logging forests where protected spotted owls 🦉 🦉 live.

But by shooting 1/2-million (also protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act) Barred owls 🦉 🦉 and claiming this slaughter reduces habitat “competition” this helping the Spotted owls, timber companies can cut down forests, including old-growth forests, where Spotted owls live. And “incidentally take” Spotted owls by destroying their nests and forests! 😳🤬😱

But there is Good News: this bloody owls-shotgunning “Barred Owls Mass Slaughter” (BOMS) CAN be de-funded.

This cow 🐄 is having a ball! Young Gertie is still incredibly gentle and sweet, and enjoys company. She’s getting bigger (800 lbs. maybe, on her way to over 1,000 lbs.?) Especially when compared to her younger adoptive baby brother, Elliott, who isn’t (yet?) into ball games.

Just another lovely day at Jolene’s Retreat in Occidental, CA, where these rescued dairy cows will enjoy a long life with lots of attention and great care. (Rescued from a short, miserable life and an early death in the dairy 🥛 🧀 business.)

Go visit them and… play ball!

The US FWS are luring Barred Owl parents out of the forest by the sound of their own hoot and when they come to investigate their met with a literal bullet The babies are left orphans and starving, where no one can find them or save them.

Unfortunately, many people assume every Barred Owl is a recent arrival.

Barred Owl families are native and have occupied territories for decades. They are not visitors many have known no other home.

The freakin’ USF&WS (“Fish & Game” agency, as they used to be called) is now on owl-slaughtering killing spree (“BOMS” - Barred Owls Mass Slaughter) — shot-gunning to death 475,000 owls of one protected species (barred) to justify killing hundreds or thousands of owls of another protected species (Northern spotted) - even though the BOTH owl species are legally protected. The 2 species aren’t just competitors for diminishing (logged! ) forest habitat, but even co-exist and interbreed (we label “sparred” owls) 🦉 !

But the truth is even uglier than that: the USFWS govt. agency is using your taxpayer dollars to help the timber (logging) industry cut down forests where the Northern spotted owl 🦉 lives. They will issue the logging companies “exemptions” to kill owls with “incidental take” permits - - to kill spotted owls “incidentally” by logging their forest habitat IF they do a “mitigation” that supposedly helps spotted owls elsewhere.

What’s that beneficial mitigation?… Killing 475,00 barred owls!! Pretty messed up, right? Acting as both God and Grim Reaper.

This insane Barred Owls 🦉 Mass Slaughter (called BOMS) program weaponizes the “invasive” label to get away with mass owls murder, the largest official government sanctioned owl 🦉 slaughter in U.S. history.
