We live for gigs like this. Buíochas to @lansdownekenmare for having me and the full house that came to listen. Ais for her magic notes & @greenshinecork for a lovely set. Needs to be said... my piano started acting up like a right fecker an hour before leaving for The Kingdom! The kind and benevolent goddess @crowley_she of @crowleys_music_centre as always, stepped in and saved the day, providing me with a replacement piano. Beyond grateful! by @jackorourkemusic

Everything about the wonderful Elmarie Mawe was turned up. Her smile, her twinkling eyes, her outlook, her joyous and sometimes wicked sense of humour, her kindness and compassion and her sincere and genuine love for the arts - She augmented the airwaves with jazz and opera, folk and rock - even strange chameleons like meself - and promoted gigs, dramas, plays, comedy, musical theatre, exhibitions of paintings and sculpture and novels and poetry. Like many Cork-based artists and songwriters, I am forever in her debt for her selfless support of my songs. I always enjoyed our chats and she asked fascinating questions in interviews - probing respectfully for truth and stories.
Like Robert Schumann's Clara and Tom Waits' Kathleen, she had a rock, her Northern Star, the love of her life, Conor, who I'm thinking about now.
I'd love to have been in her class. She spoke of her students with wonder and magic - an educator who presided over her flock's wellbeing, nurturing creativity and growth.
She fought so bravely and despite her illness, she never seemed angry or bitter - upturned with grace till the end.
A light has gone out in Cork. I will miss Elmarie. by @jackorourkemusic
