“Lucky Duck” Guitar

My first ever guitar build was a serious struggle, but also a huge learning experience. Inspired by the Motor Ave Bel-Air mixed with a Jazzmaster, everything (minus the pickups, bridge, and tuners) was designed and built by me. While there are a lot of glaring issues and I still have some touch-ups to do on it, I’m really happy with how it looks and feels, and I can’t wait to make many more guitars in the future!

iPhone and Apple Watch Desk Stand

I’ve always loved elegant, floating, minimalist designs, so I wanted to try my hand at making one. This was great practice for my 3D Modeling skills — a very simple design on the surface, but not necessarily easy to get good geometry and have the correct angles/proportions (especially since I did it in Fusion 360). While it wasn’t necessarily difficult to model, it was great practice in learning to use the different tools available to me in the most optimal and efficient ways. Also, I’m pretty pleased with my integrated cable management, when it’s on my desk, I don’t see a single cable. All in all, it was a simple and easy build, works exactly as planned, and looks great!

Phase 2 Movie Realistic Clone Helmet, Custom Colors

This project was both frustrating and rewarding. I have a history with chrome finishes, in which I hate doing them. This time around, I knew I wanted it pretty weathered and not overly reflective, so I decided to experiment with graphite powder. I did some tests on spare pieces and found a way to achieve a cool texture and patina using 70% alcohol, so after laying that down as a base for the whole helmet, I did the standard liquid latex mask and layering technique and painted on the different colors I had mixed up. Overall, I’m pleased with result, as it’s pretty close to what I had in mind, and I am very happy with how the color scheme turned out (if you can tell already, just as @jackrupert133 loves blue, I love green — I just can’t help myself).

Pick Holder

This design took a couple of tries to come up with, as at first I was making it too simple, then way too complicated, so this was a happy middle ground. Not devoid of semi-complicated angles and cuts, but still a nice clean look. Something I’m really happy about was adding magnets to the back piece of wood to create a completely seamless and hidden door for extra storage. To me, this is a great design in that it is both highly functional while still being stylish.

Bookends with Integrated Bookmarks

I am so proud of everything about these bookends — from the design to the wood to the execution, it all came together so well. I knew I wanted to make bookends, but I didn’t want them to be overly ornate, nor did I want them too simple. Almost immediately, I came up with the idea to integrate the bookmarks. From there, I chose tiger wood to be the base of the bookends, and zebra wood to be the bookmarks. Both woods are very dense and difficult to work with, so I was glad the design was fairly simple. In the end, I couldn’t be more happy with how it turned out.

Headphone Stand

This was a super fun afternoon project for me. The inspiration for the design came from the wood I chose (monkey pod), which is very unique in its swirly grain and both dark and light sections of wood. With that, I wanted something that was very thin and organic, but with a strong rooted base, while still keeping everything cohesive and not being too clunky. I’m also very pleased with the design from a practicality standpoint, as the mortise and tenon joint I used to connect the stand to the base required zero glue and is a perfect press fit. Overall, I am very happy with the result.

212th Legion Grunt Helmet, Animated Style

This was a fun and satisfying helmet to paint up. I love the yellow orange color of the 212th Legion, and it was cool to work on an animated style helmet. I’m working on another classic character with a Realistic style cast I have, which I’m really excited to finish up and share!

Custom Painted Commander Wolffe Helmet

This was a lot of fun to paint. I’ve always had a soft spot for the design of the Commander Wolffe helmet, but I thought the regular white and grey was a little boring. So, I decided to invert it and make it green! I do have the full kit of armor that I will be painting to match the helmet, which I am currently working on and will post when it’s done. Very excited for that!

Huge shoutout to @imperialsurplus for an incredible kit to work on, I would highly recommend it! We need more Wolffes in the wild! Also shoutout to @plastic_spaceman.studios for the help with reference photos and masking!
