PLEASE READ:

About 3-4 weeks ago, I decided I was going to try deer hunting this year. I got myself a bow, arrows, a couple cameras, and all other deer hunting accessories. I put the Tactacam out and watched them. The first buck that showed up on the camera was this guy. A smaller 8 point but with a big body on him. I knew he was an older deer with not the best genetics. So I kept watching the cameras to see what else would show. I went and sat a few times without seeing any sizeable deer. Then on sit number 5 at 7:07 p.m. last night, he walked out. He read the script perfectly coming in the way I was expecting him to. He got to 8 yards right under my stand and I was able to get a shot in him. Wasn’t the best shot so I put another right through the sweet spot to have him down within 2 minutes. He didn’t move nothing but a yard from the first spot I shot him. I immediately got on the phone with my dad shaking like a leaf telling him that I got him down. The phone call brought tears to my eyes and running down my face. I always heard about the feeling of taking such a beautiful animal but never got to experience it. The amount of emotion after the shot is truly incredible. From coming to duck hunting my entire life to then starting to turkey hunt a few years ago to now taking my first ever deer let alone with a compound bow. Now I really understand the feeling that deer hunters get and why they spend months out of the year preparing themselves for this animal. Thank you to everyone along the way reaching me about their passion. You know who you guys are. Also thanks to @caleb.colemann for coming out to capture these moments and to take some awesome pictures! taken in Kansas by @jackson.opheim

And that’s all she wrote for my Highschool Fishing career. Ended this year’s State Championship with a 6th place finish fishing solo. these past 4 years have been a whole lot of fun and definitely learned a whole lot about the sport along the way. Huge thanks to @kansas_bass_nation for putting on these tournaments every year and for growing the organization to what it is now. I will definitely be back to help as a boater to give back to the kids and the program. Also a huge thanks to everyone who supported me and Luke along the way! Also thanks to all of the boaters that we had throughout the past few years, couldn’t have done it with out you. Also thank you to @kickback_bass_club for getting a bunch of kids together to just talk about fishing. Now on to fishing in adult clubs and then eventually in a couple years, college fishing. by @jackson.opheim
