Happy Caturday! Did you know that cats make excellent bookmarks? I didn’t know either. Looks like he’s the new protagonist of the story.

An autumn afternoon writer’s retreat. 🍁

I dressed my patio table with a simple tablecloth, fall inspired mats, decorative pumpkin, and a tea set. I enjoyed chocolate vanilla tea and a homemade chocolate chip cookie while editing my manuscript in the midst of falling leaves.

“I am an autumn.”

Who doesn’t love a haunted library? A piano that plays on its own? Spooky pumpkins and a gorgeous 19th century estate equipped with ghouls in gardens? All this and more at the Naumkeag Pumpkin Show in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

One of the many, many reasons that I adore the Berkshires. 🧡🎃⛰️

This is my writer’s gold. 🧡🍁⛰️

It’s the little things in life that make me happy. The simpler, the better. Fresh air, open space, the sights and *sounds of nature.

QOTD: What makes you happy?

*Volume up for nature’s music.

Sundays were made for paperbacks. And tea. And a scented candle. And a curious cat. (Don’t worry, I kept him safe from the flame.)

Let’s talk about the book haul:

With a bunch of points leftover from Thriftbooks, I cashed in—a mix of romance and YA. My daughter requested the Twilight series and I promised her that we can read them together. It’s about time—I’ve always wanted to try Stephanie Meyer’s books. I chose Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice by Katie Cicatelli-Kuc for another shared reading experience.

I selected Love at First Fright because I am a sucker for an age-gap romance and there’s ghosts in a mansion so I was SOLD.

Debbie Macomber is my go-to lady because she has carried me through many a difficult season. Think Hallmark and small town romance.

Practical Magic 2 is my current read (not part of my recent book haul). Alice Hoffman is a living legend. Master of the craft and a total page turner. Goddess of the vellum.

I should be writing and finishing up my own book. However, writers are readers and we eat books for nourishment.

Happy Sunday! Happy October! 🧡📚

a Nor’easter ⛈️

I didn’t order the last part. Stay safe out there, fellow East Coasters.

An autumn photo shoot as presented by Oliver (doting tabby cat and PA). 🍁🍂

P.S. Yes, I’m still working on my book. Yes, I am a slow writer. But look, it’s raining and it’s the first day of autumn, and if you’re looking for a great fall read, check out my short romance story, Janie, available for free on KU!

I also wrote a poetry/memoir book that dishes the tea ☕️ and if you like wry humor, New York Italian things, and bookworm stuff, check out Don’t Go Over the Bridge, available on Amazon (link in bio). It was a best seller for two whole days! 🙌🏻💗😁

Yes, these are shameless plugs ⬆️⬆️

But why is it so humid? 😭

Wishing for chilly mornings so I can light a candle and read Emily Dickinson while admiring the falling leaves. 🍂

Author Update:

The good news is that the warm weather keeps me inside where I work on my manuscript. It’s moving along, no matter how slowly. I remind myself daily that slow progress is still progress.
🐌 🐌🐌

The bad news—well it’s still 2026, I don’t know where to begin with that one. Keep on keeping, fellow bookworms and authors, the seasons are changing. There’s an autumn wind blowing in soon…..
