Genre Winner: Mine
The dangers lurking in this film seem familiar at first: a vulnerable woman at home alone senses an intruder in the dark. But the true teeth in this piece are far more subtle. This short gem deftly explores how fetishizing trauma can, on one hand, be a coping mechanism for healing, but on the other can attract the very monsters one is trying to heal from. Suspenseful, twisty, and blood-chilling, this year’s Salute Your Shorts Genre Prize goes to Jaclyn Moore for her film, “Mine.” by @jaclynpmoore
