“As an artist sometimes you have to leave and go out into the world to live, so that when you come back to your craft, you have something new to say.” What a privilege it’s been to leave behind things that don’t satisfy me, and put myself into spaces where I can experience new things. This year has been unbelievably special. I never could have imagined that I’d get to experience the things I did this year; most importantly with the people I did them with.

It would take FOREVER to explain how grateful I am to the people, places, and experiences that made this year special. And it’s impossible to list out all of those things, because every single moment held so much importance. But, I’m not one to sugarcoat things… this year, as wonderful as it’s been, has also probably been the single hardest year of my life. It’s easy to post the fun pictures and talk about the special moments, but it’s important to remember that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. I’m so proud of myself for getting through the things I got through this year, and as horribly sucky as they were, I’m grateful that they happened because I now know how strong I am. It’s comforting to know that even at rock bottom I have the will power to pick myself up, brush myself off, flip the bird, and walk away.

I didn’t want to make some long, sappy, annoying post about some stupid inspirational b.s., but I want this post to be an ode to the person I was before this year and the person I am now. And, in order to do that, I have to acknowledge the parts of the year that I truly didn’t know if I’d get through.

But hey, here we are. It seems like such a little feat to make it through another year, but for anyone reading this that for some reason read this whole thing, be proud of the things you weathered this year, and surviving the moments you didn’t think you would. 2026 will be better for us all, however it may look, because even if things go bad or don’t go as planned, we know that we’ll make it through because we proved that we could in 2025.
