Was humbled to participate in the 4th annual Families of Honor charity boxing fight in New York, in support of American Gold Star families - families who have lost loved ones in active military service.

There are too many incredible people I met along the way to name — from the event organizers to every member of @lastroundnyc for taking me in and helping me train over the past six months.

But above all I owe my gratitude to @urinaserna_boxing , who patiently taught me the art of boxing (of which I’ve barely scratched the surface) and reminded me that the beauty reveals itself when we pursue something truly uncomfortable, and fully give ourselves to it.

A few months ago, @lib_vainer , @baldeagle22x2 and I went to the @dekalbanimals shelter in Atlanta, to do a “Dog for a Day.”

The kennel houses over 500 dogs - from the moment you step in the door, it’s a frenzy of barking and chaos from endless rows of dogs who have been confined to tight quarters for far too long.

Amidst the chaos, I noticed a dog who stood out. A quiet young pitt sitting obediently in his kennel. He had a dejected look in his eyes. Apathetic. Like he had been given up on, and was about to give up himself.

I immediately knew he was the one. Moments later, he was in my car, and we were on our way for a “dog for the day.”

However, it quickly became clear this would not be just a dog for the day. When we arrived home, he settled into our arms for a several-hour nap, as if he’d known us forever. When he woke up in this strange new setting, we finally saw glimpses of his personality - curious, goofy, rambunctious, endlessly affectionate, and above all, sweet as can be.

We called the shelter and let them know he wouldn’t be coming back. We took a hard look at him, named him Ralph, and settled him into the house.

For the last few months, Ralph has explored everything, loved everyone, and become the best part of my fall.

It’s safe to say Ralph is living his best life.

I know this is an unusual post, but I wanted to share it because prior to this experience, I truly had no idea how overwhelming the shelter crisis is, especially in Georgia and the broader Southeast. The volunteers and staff at places like Lifeline are real heroes. They give everything - time, energy, sympathy - to animals who were given a tough lot in life. “Dog for a Day” programs might seem small, but to a dog who hasn’t left a kennel in months, it’s everything.

Karen Davison said it best: “Saving one dog will not change the world, but surely for that one dog, the world will change forever…”

So, go check out your local shelter. Go with a friend next Saturday. You never know. You will make a deserving dog’s day, maybe it’s life…and they just might change yours. taken in Dekalb County Animal Services by @jacob_karsch

Contrary to popular belief, the hot girl walk isn’t free!

The Hudson River Park (HRPK) is the incredible organization that we have to thank for Manhattan’s beautiful west side. An independent nonprofit, HRPK operates, maintains and improves the 400+ acres that make up the country’s longest riverfront park, from Chambers Street to 59th Street, ensuring it remains the vibrant community asset we’ve come to know and love, serving millions of New Yorkers and tourists each year.

Furthermore, HRPK is responsible for the transformation of the west-side. Once defined by industrial warehouses and shipyards, HRPK has developed the land into a beacon of urban sustainability and environmental stewardship, establishing community composting, plastic removal initiatives and habitat restoration that has revived biodiversity in the Hudson River.

This year, @danielkahn97 and I were fortunate to run the NYC Half with team Hudson River Park to support their incredible initiatives. If you enjoy the urban oasis that is Manhattan’s west-side and would like to support its incredible mission, volunteers, and hot girl walks for years to come, please see the links in our bios! 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🌳 🫶🏻 by @jacob_karsch
