The second (and harder to put together 😮‍💨) scene from this #yearofthedragon concept I started way back in March. It's fitting that I did this at the end of this year, since there were a ton of things I learned throughout the year that all were used to make this. Also this time last year I didn't even really know how to use Blender for 3D at all 🤷‍♂️

Somehow I archived this months ago and forgot to un-archive it! This was a painting I did after taking @_lea.pinto_ 's visdev class back in the beginning of this year (when #yearofthedragon was still timely 🤭)

This started as a 3D blockout, and then was mostly done in 2D paint, then brought back into Blender using @causelovesky 's awesome Blender<—>Photoshop workflow so I could see it in the final composite AS I was painting it.

I also threw a bunch of other things in here in Blender too....which I ended up using for something else (that I'll post very soon)

New job! I'm going to be working with the amazing team at Powerhouse on a super cool highly stylized series. I'm thrilled about this as Powerhouse has been one of my favorite studios for years, even before I started working in animation.

So excited about this as I can use a lot of Blender skills I've been working on independently, and put them to use in new and experimental ways 🎉 Not able to share what the project is yet but it'll be a big day when it's announced 🤐 by @jacobhalton

Made 100% in Blender. Once again I got overly ambitious and ended up juggling a ton of layers. This time the hardest part was actually the drawing (usually that's one of the easiest steps), and getting her to appear correctly in 3D space. To do that I had to use a series of alpha masks in different ways so she wouldn't overlap with the environment or the other lines and effects I added.

I even did the sound mixing in Blender this time!

Playing around with sound, and wanted to make a short loop from one of my favorite tracks. All made entirely in #Blender
- 3D environment design
- Sound responsive flame FX
- 2D animation in Grease Pencil
- Comic book shading and outlines
- Compositing all layers together and added effects

I got sick last week and it stopped me from drawing more of these but now I'm back to them again. Don't really care about doing them daily, or even finishing the whole month. As long as I do some of them it's fun enough, and that goes for any of these themed month long challenges.
