9/30/21 “On Deck”

What a day yesterday was! Two years of history with this deer two sheds from last year, hundreds of trail camera pictures, almost every time I hunted last year I had an encounter with him. I finally got to put my hands on this deer. Truly lost for words. Yesterday was super emotional and one I’ll never forget. Snuck into the blind at 4am to try to beat all the deer into that field. Luckily I did so without spooking anything. Finally daylight arrived and he shows up. An incredible moment, Gods love and grace is far to good. I don’t deserve it. But truly grateful for this deer. The memory I have walking up on the deer and being on the farm with my mom and dad standing there looking at him. I cried like a baby. This has been a moment I dreamed about since I was a little kid. All the glory goes to God! I’m nothing without him! We’re all nothing without him. Be thankful for this life. I am everyday. There are mountains and valleys but you have to see god through it all. Although I’m truly elated, the farm feels empty now that the hunt for “On Deck” is over.

Michigan was good to me on the last day, ended up getting permission on a money spot that had two gobblers on it. 5 minutes into the hunt they came running in. It was good to hunt with my buddy @captzbow for a few days, it’s been way too long. One of my biggest spurred turkeys, thank you God for another day in the woods! by @jacoblatimer22

Unreal hunt took 2 hours to call this guy into 20 yards, he couldn’t handle the soft yelps and purrs once he got within 150 yards. He came right up to the strutter, thank you God for another day in the woods! by @jacoblatimer22

I never get this excited about a turkey hunt, but this one had me FIRED UP! I called this turkey in from 3 farms over, the quiet treatment once I got him to respond to me got him. Once he was within sight I soft yelped and purred and he came right to the decoy. Amazing hunt! by @jacoblatimer22

Tagged along with David this afternoon ended up calling 2 Jake’s and this gobbler into 22 yards. Strutted right up to the decoy. Thank you God for another day out in the woods! by @jacoblatimer22

Today was a textbook mid day hunt, @logan07lbz_ And I sat up on 3 lonely gobblers and called them into 30 yards. They put on a show for us, it’s a hunt like this that you really soak in. Logan has been one of my best friends since 1st grade and we’ve never shot anything together. So this one was special. Btw Logan is not as patient as I am when it comes to turkeys fighting the decoy haha. He told me 4 times to shoot, I kept saying chill. 😂 by @jacoblatimer22
