I was working with the royalty family and I suggested to them hey if you want to get more views per month we should upload less not more And thats what I really try to tell everybody When youre at a really high level its like you dont want to upload more you want to upload less And theyve done that Im not trying to take the credit or anything but when I started working with them we were getting 100 million views per month

Which was a falloff That was them not performing at peak What was their peak It was like 150 in the summer the year before if I remember correctly 160 somewhere in there And when I left it was at 200 million per month

Was a big part of that change uploading less

Yes 150 million views per month They went down to 100 million views per month And then they started working with you And then you told them to upload less They uploaded less and then they went back up to 200 million views per month Yeah It seems so counterintuitive

If youre at 10 million views and you want to get to 20 30 does it require that obsessiveness

If you were at 10 million plus like you do this almost only Or you are like a genius and you got a great team who does it for you But I guarantee you though those people with a great team theyre plateauing right now Like theyre getting 15 mil but theyre stuck at 15 because no matter I dont care how good your team is I dont care how good they are They dont want this to succeed as badly as you do Right Because at the end of the day this is their job But for you this is your life

And so like you know youre an entrepreneur right Its like no one and no employee you hire is like Im gonna make sure you make you know a hundred million in revenue Youre like no one gives a shit right Youre the one thats like why are we not getting to this goal And if you dont have that person enforcing the standard then youre not you know youre not growing Your company is going to be plateaued at one of these very high numbers But you will plateau

Is there a best practice that everyone repeats that you think is wrong when it comes to titles

A lot of people try to make their titles as if its like a summary of the video I show people like just in case you know title You think titles dont matter Theres two titles One is like a summary of the video I think its top ten exercises for violin players and the other one was only 2% of violinists understand this and I think that one had like 74% more watch time

The only 2% Thats the one

Yeah By a long shot actually

Why do you think that is Is it because of the curiosity aspect

You dont even care about violin But the odds of you clicking on that are a lot higher because youre like I wonder what is the 2% of violinists know I wonder what that is And most people who watch these videos dont even care that much about the violin to begin with But once we watch the video theyre probably convinced like shoot maybe I do want to learn the violin And what are we doing Were creating fans that didnt exist before So because you dont realize your video can actually win a viewer if you do it right Same with your thumbnails They can win a viewer that you wouldnt have had if you do it right

How much money does a video with 100 million views make

Well this is going to be on our RPMs So lets say you are in software right And you have a channel thats talking about software Well guess what happens when you talk about software and you got I mean 100 million views would be insane But lets pretend that we did We got a hundred million views Well guess who those 100 million people are listening to software They are entrepreneurs They are people with money Well that is going to correlate to a whole lot of money for the people who advertise their service or product on their right And so guess who is fighting for the space to get on that 100 million view video Its only the A players its only people with all the money in the world

And so theyll go no no no Ill pay way more money to get my ad in front of that video Right So then what happens to that creator Well their RPMs go from like maybe you know 5 dollars right To literally like I mean that would be insane Thatd be like 100 dollars or something like RPMs And people think thats impossible But I wont say who I wont say who but Ive literally seen a creator show me they had RPMs of 95 dollars

How many views does someone need to get to make 10000 dollars a month on YouTube

Well so it comes down to your RPMs which is going to be like your average dollar per thousand views when it comes to AdSense If youre trying to get to 10000 like I would say get an affiliate marketing partnership tell them not to pay you in a sponsor and just say hey just give me the affiliate link And everyone who uses my code gets X amount of dollars or I get X amount of cut from it Like I got a buddy who did that with a single video One video and it got he got 30000 dollars way more than AdSense ever paid him

I have a client where I worked with them and within two months he was making 10000 dollars a month on YouTube But it was not from AdSense it was from his service If youre like I want to make 10000 dollars a month as soon as possible well get someone elses products or get your products and service and put it in front of those viewers and you will get there a lot sooner versus waiting for YouTube to monetize

I heard Mr Beasts team tried to hire you

I sent a couple of applications a while back and so one day I got an email from them and we met We had an interview it went really good Then I met with Tyler and he was like cool lets get you a vibe check I really had to like decide like do I want to keep going the direction Im going or do I want to go here Because it was just like it was tempting But I think at the end of the day I just I think I just rather have done my own thing because its a huge commitment I got a family and I have to like fly out to North Carolina to work with them

Oh they require you to fly to live there

Yeah yeah Because the job title was creative director for the main channel

Jake argues that packaging matters more than the video itself since nothing youre never shown can be clicked and the game comes down to understanding the platform rather than having the highest quality video

Inside the violin thumbnail breakdown he mentions that adding an arrow raises impressions and says an A/B test makes the gap obvious On titles he uses the Anthony Morales example where two versions ran on the same video and the curiosity-driven one pulled significantly more watch time than the first

He walks through asking creators whether a million views with no money would actually satisfy them then explains AdSense is the worst way to get paid compared to affiliate links sponsors or your own product

He describes telling the royalty family to upload less and the arc from 150 million views a month down to 100 and back up to 200

He calls CTR the most overvalued metric since 20% on low impressions produces nothing while 2% on high impressions produces views

Yeah cant really

Can you say the amount Is it well six figures seven figures eight figures What are we talking in one month

Lets just say if youre a high view channel and youre in the top 200 you are definitely making over 1 million dollars per month

If youre the top 200 Like if youre not youre doing something very wrong in my opinion Where is that coming from Im like the truth is dude a lot of it is from AdSense
