🌟NEMC MEMBER SPOTLIGHT #5🌟 @jacobsilvia99! Every Tuesday and Thursday during October to drum up excitement for our big Trunk or Treat event on Halloween, we’re featuring a member and their Miata. Today is Jacob and his 1995 NA Miata, “Stu.”

Jacob says:

“Hi, I’m one of the other people named Jacob in this group and this is my 1995 Miata, Stu!

I got Stu this summer after spending much of the year searching for a good deal on a Miata in my area. After meeting many of the members at Mt Hope Car Club meets and attending some NEMC events last year, I knew I had to join the cult! I mean club, sorry. Annie helped me pick him out and I absolutely love him. With just over 85,000 miles at the time of purchase, it was by far the best example I’d come across for a reasonable price. Shortly after I got the car it needed to get the top replaced, but ownership has otherwise been problem free so far.

Stu shares my driveway with my 2023 Toyota GR Corolla. They’re so different in almost every way so owning both is a ton of fun. I don’t have any major modifications planned for the Miata because I’ve really enjoyed driving it as it is and its appearance always gets compliments at meets and on the road.

So far my favorite part of owning a Miata has definitely been becoming more involved with NEMC! I always love hanging out with other members whether it’s for a meet, a drive, or terrorizing a local Chili’s. I even helped host an event at my house earlier this year!

I’ve had so much fun with this car already and I can’t wait for more!” by @jacobsilvia99

Introducing the Tree-R Corolla.

This was so much fun to put together and shoot. The car came out exactly as I wanted and the content is even better than I could have imagined. Huge thanks to @jeezuzchris , @newyen6mt, and @ssam.kraus for helping make this happen. Gotta say there’s nothing better than making a Kanye fan edit your video to a Taylor Swift song.

That’s a wrap on my first full season of Spectator Drags! It was so much fun learning how to drive the car and meeting so many awesome people all season long. Here’s some highlights! This race against @midnightrun_401 at the Midsummer Thrill Show was the turning point of the season for me. This is when I really started to figure it out and got over my mental blocks against driving the car hard.

This night race win against @mattmanz28 was another big confidence booster because he beat me pretty bad earlier in the season.

The car just looks really good here

The 4th of July show wasn’t my best performance of the year, but it was fun as always and I was able to learn a lot from this race.

@laura.marie.a captured this great slo-mo video of that race in the Midsummer show

The same race in real time. Listen to the crowd!

I always love the Pumpkin Smash and getting to display the car with a trick or treating setup

I found myself in the middle of another viral moment with round 3 race from the Pumpkin Smash. Lots of YouTube comments saying they thought I won and the crowd was not happy when the call didn’t go my way! I can’t be mad about it, there was a lot I could have done better.

The photo finish from my dash cam

I was so happy my Halloween setup survived the drive to the track and 3 rounds of racing

Another shot with the spider

The best angle I can find of the finish

It was so cool seeing and hearing so many people cheer for me all season long! Thanks so much to everyone who came to watch me race, everyone I talked to at the track, everyone who messaged me when they watched me on @tberg.media, and most importantly all the Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags competitors who gave me advice and helped me improve throughout the season. by @jacobsilvia99

Miatas at the Gap isn’t actually about the Miatas. They’re cool, and it was great to see some of North America’s nicest builds there, but that’s not the point. The people are what really make this event special. I had such a great time with and because of so many great people, and I want to use this post to highlight them and how much I appreciate them. Some of them I’ve known for a long time, some were Instagram friends I finally got to meet in person, and some I interacted with for the first time this week. If I didn’t tag you I’m sorry! I met so many amazing people this week and I honestly don’t remember everyone’s usernames.

First an oh so very important thank you to @mark_andraka for letting me use your car for the week! Thanks Boxxy for being such a perfect little guy through 3,000 miles.

Thanks @lit.tlered.miata for hooking me up with a place to stay!

Thanks @roadstar.kev, @jsmreece, @nyoomianta, @bocchi.smol, @brianfknmyers, and everyone on Laura St for being the coolest neighbors! (Even though we can’t light a fire to save our lives)

Thank you @automotive.annie, @jrachfpv, @stomish, @drakevanness23, @aclairem13 and @northeastmiataclub as a whole for the fun cruise and dinner Saturday night and thanks again Mark for the Dragon run in the J. I love that car!

An especially huge thank you to @waterfallgabi, @meapers, and @kpeters0311 who I spent most of Saturday and Sunday with and yapping so much that we started picking up each other’s accents! (The Tail of the Draygon, as some might say 😂)

Thanks to everyone who joined us Sunday for our 2 hour cruise to go sit by a river and get rained on, especially @afinntasticlife who did it with the top down because his hood was ratchet strapped to his trunk.

A general thank you to everyone who took time to talk to me all week long. I’m leaving this trip a better person because of all of you and I can’t wait to see everyone again. by @jacobsilvia99

How is half the year gone already?! I can barely fit all the highlights into one post and we’re only through June. It’s been so much fun (and money) getting the Miata back to the state it should be in and having so many great times with it. I still can’t get over that NEMC’s biggest meet yet happened in my yard! It’s also been great getting the Corolla back to the track and finally making some real progress with my ability. I’ve been to so many great events already including the NASCAR All Star Race and my first NHRA and Formula Drift events with many more on the calendar for the rest of the year. Thanks to everyone who’s been along for the ride so far. I have so much planned for the rest of the summer and can’t wait to share it! by @jacobsilvia99

There are so many highlights to share from this year! 5 new racetracks (New Smyrna, Daytona, Lime Rock, Palmer, Epping), 3 great NASCAR weekends including my first Daytona 500, concerts for some of my favorite bands, and 1 new car! (See previous post for Miata-specific highlights) I added a few more modifications to the Corolla and continued to race it at Seekonk, learning a lot every time and getting faster every event. Hopefully I’ll start winning some next year. The biggest life change has definitely been starting to live on my own, it’s been great to have my own space and hosting gatherings there. There’s definitely a lot more that I could add to this post. Going into 2026 with some exciting things on the horizon! by @jacobsilvia99

To help keep my annual year-end post from being flooded with Miata content, here’s a special post just to wrap up my first Miata season. I’ve met so many great people and had so many great times with it already. The first week I had the car I attended my first big Miata event with @northeastmiataclub and @halfpastthreepresents. I spent two nights sleeping in the car at MiataCon. A huge highlight was winning the Best Dressed award at the NEMC Trunk or Treat. We wrapped the year up with an incredible NEMC holiday party this past weekend! (And who can forget the countless group outings to Chili’s?) Huge thanks to everyone in the Miata community that made this year great and Stu and I can’t wait for next year to get my first full length Miata season and hopefully many more fun events. by @jacobsilvia99

I’m so excited to FINALLY reveal this! This is my new-to-me 1995 Mazda MX-5 Miata. It’s been a longer journey than expected to bring this car home but it’s finally in my possession.

@automotive.annie and I looked at this car OVER A MONTH AGO and after driving it I decided to buy it on the spot. Unfortunately the seller needed to obtain a duplicate title before I could register it in Massachusetts and that took all of the Rhode Island DMV’s estimated 30 days.

This car is in very good shape, especially given the condition of some of the other ones I considered buying. It has just over 85,000 miles on it and is mechanically nearly perfect. It has your typical NA Miata rocker rust, but it’s very minor and the rest of the car looks great. It was painted by a previous owner and the stripes were his addition. It already has a great sounding Borla exhaust, so that’s one less mod I’ll have to do. This year, I’m gonna enjoy it as it is and just do regular maintenance. The real fun will start next year.

I’ve never been one to name my cars, but I think all Miatas need a name. This is Stu. He is named after a member of my favorite band, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. I’m thrilled to finally be a Miata owner and can’t wait to go to lots of fun events, especially with @northeastmiataclub!

There are 7 pictures in my year-end post that don’t have my car in it, probably a personal high. Lots of fun stuff this year. If I had to narrow down a single highlight, racing the car in the Seekonk Speedway Spectator Drags for the first time would probably be it (just please don’t ask how I did). Looking forward to a lot next year, including finally checking off a race I’ve wanted to attend for a long time. by @jacobsilvia99
