the end of an era ❤️ After 3 years, my chapter with Complex has come to a close. I’m sure it’s obvious, but this job and team have meant so much to me - so lemme get a lil emotional about it on here lmaoo During my junior year of college I applied to almost 100 internships. With an inbox full of automated rejections and ignored follow-ups, I was very quickly losing the motivation to try and secure the infamous “big summer internship” that everyone tells you to land before your senior year. I decided to apply for one more role before ending my search, so I sent in an application to Complex. I knew I shared the love for the brand and excitement for the well-known program with *thousands* of other applicants, so I honestly wasn’t expecting much. Following some pretty awkward cold DMs (s/o Stef and Deb LOL), a very un-viral TikTok, and a couple interviews, I received an offer to join the 2021 #ComplexIntern class. Although I was under a different department, I (probably a little too eagerly) took the time to introduce myself to everyone on the social team. I was eventually brought on to help with some summer projects before getting the opportunity to stay on the team as a freelancer while I finished college. A lot of things had to align for me to eventually get to where I was, and intern Jacq would not have believed me if I told her about everything she’d get to do as she continued to grow in the company. From an intern to a Sr. Strategist, my time at Complex was filled with experiences and friendships that I will cherish FOREVER. So here’s to the early mornings, late nights, red carpets, Slack brainstorms, “Can we huddle really quick?”’s, viral interviews, original memes, #ComplexCover rollouts and everything in between. Truly blessed to have been able to work with and learn from some of the smartest, most genuine, and passionate people in. the. GAME!! As this part of my life comes to an end, I look ahead with a heart full of gratitude and excitement. always proud. forever repping 🇵🇭 wearing Filipiniana at my first Golden Globes was truly such a special moment for me. I was able to represent my culture in a space not many of us occupy, and I’m very thankful to have been given the opportunity to do so. hearing how much this small form of representation meant to other people in the Fil-Am community fr made me want to cry LMAO so here’s to raising awareness, sharing our talents, and empowering and supporting each other this year and always! a strong start to 2024, and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for me. 🥲🫶🏽 taken in Golden Globes by @jacqbanal
