Learning to advocate for those that can’t :)

It’s been lovely to get out and get some fresh air! 💖

I’ve been participating in a wheelchair skills class for the last month. Had to get out and practice some threshold wheelies and maneuvers. I always had support nearby don’t worry lol. 23 turns around the sun! Lately I’ve been taking a few steps here and there out in nature! I’m always up for a challenge, and it’s worth it in the end! I’m grateful for every step. I wouldn’t be able to get there without my lovely wheelchair and my friends. This year, I’m grateful for all of the support I have. ✨ A full-length photo of a young woman with glasses and long brown hair, smiling with her hands on her hips in front of a giant, decorative orange and black monarch butterfly wing display. Well, hello Cronus !🖤❣️
I saw the beautiful burgundy corpse flower that lives at the Cleveland Zoo. This was the sixth time that he has bloomed in 32 years. I was super lucky to visit this stinky flower.

The Corpse flower was named for it’s super stinky garbage or rotting smell. There’s fewer than 1,000 Titan Arum plants in the wild, located in Sumatra, Indonesia. The population has declined 50% in the last 150 years, making it an endangered species.
111 conservatories, botanical gardens, zoos, and museums cultivate it across the world.

Conservation projects protect awesome plants and animals so we all get the chance to experience cool things like this for years to come :) Jacqueline, with long brown hair, round glasses, and a tan baseball cap sits in a black and champagne manual wheelchair in the lower right foreground. She is turned slightly toward the camera, resting her hands on her lap. Directly behind her, a massive corpse flower plant blooms out of a rustic wooden planter box. The plant features a tall, pale purple, cone-like central spike rising from a massive, ruffled outer petal that transitions from lime-green at its ribbed base to deep, velvety maroon on its inner flared edges. The entire scene is framed by a dense background of lush green tropical foliage, including large-leafed ferns, and banana plants. taken in Cleveland Metroparks Zoo by @jacqueline_r2
