I love the language of Zouk! Verbal communication isn’t necessary to have an amazing and fun conversation through dance.

First time I’ve ever danced with Brad and it was so great! Super clean, clear and precise leads. He also taught some amazing classes while here on Oahu. Mahalo! 🙏

At the end of the night, I wanted to wear an eye cover and have a blind birthday dance w/ my beloved Zouk community. Omg how much I loved it! 🥰

We taught a workshop called Blind sighted, so an eye mask was handy. During the workshop, follows wore eye masks to promote feelings of safety by having clear/full weight transfers and to lessen anticipation. The leads had to lead slowly, clearly and protect their follows! It was a success! I even saw peeps choosing to wear their masks during social dances too. It was so fun.

I don’t usually lean into celebrating myself. But I did, and it was reflected back to me, and felt good. 😌 I feel so lucky to have such an amazing friend group and such a special Zouk community to celebrate with. The joy it brings my heart is overflowing.

🥂To more years of learning, growing, dancing and celebrating life with you all. 🥰🥰🥰 Zouk on! 🙌

Thank you all for the beautiful dances, the gifts, for showing up, for all the help and for making my night so special. ☺️

Zouk Oahu 2nd & 4th Fridays – Jacquelyn’s Birthday Edition! ♥️

This Friday we’re celebrating Jacquelyn’s birthday with a Paint the Town Red theme!

We’ll start the evening with a workshop called Blind Sighted, focusing on trust, connection, and communication. After the workshop, we’ll have our usual social dancing along with a birthday game! Question options are in the story if you want to start thinking of things to write.

Friday, October 9th
Workshop: 7:30–8:30 PM
Social: 8:30–11 PM

Hawaii Dance Bomb
2758 S King St, Honolulu

Wear red for the theme, and feel free to bring something to share.

We’ll also be skipping our 4th Friday event this month due to Hawaii Zouk Wave, so this will be our only Zouk Oahu Friday social in October.

Looking forward to dancing with everyone! 💃 by @jacquelynotto

Zouk Oahu’s
6-Week J&J Training Series with Brad and Jacquelyn leading up to Hawaii Zouk Wave! 🌊

Starting Mondays,
September 14th–October 19th
7–10 PM

With Hawaii Zouk Wave coming up in October, we wanted to put together a 6-week training series to help anyone who wants to feel more prepared for the J&J competition BUT you absolutely do not have to be planning to compete to join us! It’s more Zouk training time!

Brad is going to break down the J&J rules, what to expect, what judges are actually looking for, and spend a lot of time working on the foundations of Zouk itself. I think understanding why certain things matter in competition can actually make Zouk as a whole easier to understand and help you become a more confident social dancer too.

All levels can benefit from this series. We’ll meet you where you’re at and give you things to work on at your own level.

We’ll even have some mock J&J’s to get the feel for it.

We’ll also leave time toward the end for practica/mini social dancing, and you don’t have to be taking the series to come dance!

So whether you’re getting ready to compete, curious about J&J, or just want more focused training and more time dancing before Hawaii Zouk Wave, come join us! ❤️
